  1. Bashing
my wife and i are new to the rc world and would like to get into the hobby. we have done research and have it narrow down to two models. We only want to do some back yard bashing. We both like to build and modify things, i have read many forms on this and that and decided to post one myself. We do want to purchase the same model,we both like the building aspect of it with the x ss, we would purchase spectrum dx3s radios and eventually add reverse. The other option is to purchase the xl, add reverse to it, then maybe upgrade the radio to a spektrum, I read that the HPI tf3 radio that comes with the xl is just a cheap one.
I honestly don't believe the frustration and sleepless nights I have been having lately over this delema..lol..

thanks to all, love this website, see ya in the mud..

hey man. i just bought an xl and the dx3s. i actually havent finished breaking the engine in yet but i have the dx3s installed. with the xl u have to make the wires on the telemetry sensors longer because theyre too short to reach fro the engine into the reciver compartment. but I'm sure ur inclined enough to splice some wires. thats what i did and sensors work fine. the 5.9 engine is too ig for the rpm sensor mounts they give you so you need to custom mount the sensor some how. when it comes down to it ill show you pictures of what i did. but other wise radio works great its awesome knowing rpm and temp. the radio has alot of useful options. i can't wait to bash my truck. if it helps i went with the xl cause its supposed to be the baddest thing out as far as what i read n what the guys say on here.. I'm sure ill have fun after break in. gl hf

As far as I'm concerned , the entire line of Savage trucks are good . Mine is the original Savage .21 and I've modified the hell out of it over the years . The Savage has been around for long enough for there to be tons of aftermarket up-grades out there . So , even if you go with the XL you can have fun bolting on new goodies to it .
As for the radio , it's no specrtum but it works fine and gets the job done . Be sure to post some pix. of your trucks when you get them .
