What would you guys suggest upgrading first on the Savage XL? I've seen a lot of purple things, like exhaust and springs, and diff. things like that. But I want something that helps with the durability and performance, not just pretty looks. :)

Thanks in advance,
T

It is built great IMO. It does not need anything but wheels/tires of your choice. Lighter tires will make it feel more powerful driving. Aluminum bends and breaks where plastic flexes....
Purple is for Barney too:puke:Just my opinion though
Good upgrades would be electronics, good hi torque digi servos and a nice 2.4ghz system.

So hi torque digi sevos and 2.4 ghz system would give me better performance?

Throw out any name brands :)

Thanks,
T

All the current 2.4 ghz systems are good. See which ones have the features you are after. I prefer the Spektrums because the built-in fail-safe works great. When the batt pack voltage drops or if you happen to drive out of range, the receiver applys the brakes. I have never driven mine out of range, out of sight almost though. No stupid long antenna to worry about breaking either.
Servos, the Ace 1015 is the fastest high torque digital available.
i run a JR 9000T that refuses to die so I would highly recommend one. Turns the tires full left to right on carpet easily.
The Hitec 5955 is just as strong as the JR, but has stronger gears than any servo on the market. It will be my next purchased servo.

A good radio sytem is insurance for your truck. I can't even tell you how many AM/FM radio equipped trucks i have watched ride of into the sunset, the woods, down the street, into my neighbors fence..... I've seen grown men almost cry in front of their buddies when they pick up their car in two seperate pieces! A good failsafe would have helped in these situatiuons but I would rather have a Spektrum.
My vote is radio first, then servos.

might do that with my savvy x... 2.4ghz system looks the goods... spesh when i've got phaltlines on, screaming down the street away from me then it's out of range, failsafe on the truck kicks in, all fours lock and it skids under a car or something, then i have to walk 15-20 meters before i get back in range and it bogs and stalls.. guh.

Gonna go for the Spectrum already but...

Hi Folks

Just got my Savage XL. Broke it in and started running smooth. (Will finish a gallon before I ever go faster) Further, I mounted HPI Phaltline Chevron tread tyres (wheels included) for on road driving rather than off road.

Been running it with 1/2 up to 3/4 throttle with short bursts of 100% but the oil problem (out of the exhaust) stuck immediately. Obviously I chose a richer setup for the engine bt I never expected such a billowing cloud ! :D

I want to extend my exhaust pipe s far as possible with aluminum tubing I have at hand. (same diameter as the stinger) But I cannot decide the maximum length without doing any adverse effect on the engine or its performance.

I do not plan on bending around too much. It will be a straight pipe running as far out as possible to the rear end...

Any suggestions please ??

Best regards
MS
