Here is my problem, I just got my Savage XL brand new completed break in. Then could not start took engine apart cleaned one way bearing just with a towel no alcohol or air compressor. work ok for one start went to start again today and it just spins like the bearing is slipping again.. Why did they put the one way bearing in the engine? I thought it needs to stay dry? Also why is giving me so meny problems? Please help......

Remove it and slosh it around in Rubbing alcohol that you can find in any drug store or grocery store.
Wet a rag and clean the shaft as well. Blow the bearing dry and do it a few more times. Blow it dry and let it sit till it's thoroughly air dry, and reinstall. Engines are set very rich from the factory, but it's odd that it would slip this soon.

I had the same problem with mine. I took it out once cleaned with De-Natured alcohol and it worked for a day and then started acting up again.
I found out its the same starter shaft and OWB HPI uses for the 4.6 and the pinch is so tight in the 5.9 it can actually stretch the bearings that hold the starter shaft if you flood it and try rotating it with the roto-start. (which I did) Alot of people are recomending loosening the glow plug a bit on initial break in and start up. I replaced mine and have had no problems since.

Which did you replace both or just one?

Just the one I think its part # 15294. Starter shaft holder. I also sealed the back of my engines (all of my cars with a little ultrablack). I may be just imagining this but since I started doing this with my engines, the tunes stay more consistent. But just use a little bit and make sure when you have the back plate off its stays clean.

my 25 does the same

My savage 25 w/.25 does the same thing, I installed new shaft, spring, and liitle pin. And a new one way, but it still spins and it really turns my crank(if you know what I mean), how and why would it do that???
