Thought I would share with everyone the joy of finding out when i first opened my new savage XL that HPI has been shipping them with Savage X cooling head guards.... so with that said, had to come up with a way to protect my investment... used zip ties, 4 of them to be exact and then i thought about using the extra body mount given.... some more zip ties and now i have a functioning cage !!!!! Hopefully the pics show exactly whats needed for anyone else who has come across the same issue .... It has been "field" tested by none other then myself and it works

I was going to fabricate an extension from aluminum, but your way looks easier. You'd think for 600 bucks HPI would package a gaurd that fits. My brother-in-law called HPI and thye claim the rool cage is being produced now and will be available soon.

i hope this reactivates this thread as for i have come across many other savage xl owners runnning into not being able to install there roll cage
