I've been thinking of buying a Savage and I'm wondering if any of you have experienced any major or just plain annoying downfalls with yours? I am thinking the ss kit would be the one since I enjoyed building my MT2 18ss soo much but if the Xl is a better all around truck, thats what I want. I've had way too much trouble with my Revo so I want a MT that I can have some fun with.:\

The only major issue I've had with mine is the engine mount plate comes loose where the plate bolts to the back end of the transmission case. Simply replace the self-tapping screws with a nut and bolt setup, and you'll never have that problem.

That, and reverse the rear upper-shock-to-tower screws before you run it... Or else you'll puncture your fuel tank on a high jump.

Thanks HeartBreak. Have you ever had any engine problems? My Revo is hard to keep a good tune, burns up spur gears and air filter tubes regularly. Do any of these apply to the Savage? I was bashing with my nephew the other day and he was driving my MT21`8ss while I was working on the Revo. When I finally got it set up it didnt last long.

love my xl hate the 5.9, Piston crapped out after 1 gallon. Apparently there is quite a few with similar piston issues.

I'm looking more at the ss since its probably going to be a good idea to wait for warmer weather to break in and I think it has a 4.6. Itll also give me something to do for the winter.
