  1. Bashing
Hey fellas, thinking of ditching the t-maxx and getting a savage, but I dont know which one to get. I like the XL for its size, but I hear alot more about the X. Can any of you give me some pros and cons of each. This is just to play with with my kids, no racing or heavy bashing. I know that these are very durable trucks, but is one of these truly inferior of the other. I know that the 5.9 has more power, but wich one runs better. I have heard that they both top out around the same speed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey, the first truck i bought was a t-maxx 3.3, and i loved it, but so did my son so i went and bought a new savagex 4.6. I don't know much about the 5.9 but the savage x is one tough truck, i love it. like you i bought the savage 4.6 so i could enjoy the hobby with my son tyler, he's 10 now and i find myself sneaking a drive with the t-maxx every now and then. in my honest opinion it's a preference thing, in my case my L.H.S had the savagex in stock and i also liked the price, plus everything i read on RC NITRO TALK the savage got great revues from about everyone who owned one, but don't be surprised if you find yourself taking the old t-maxx out for a kool romp around every now and then. just my opinion. kdogg

Come on fellas, 19 views and one responce.
Thanks KDOGG

I started with a savage x. The savage x comes with a force .28, made by ofna. The savage xl comes with a axial .36, made by axial.

I think the force motors are made better than axial motors and the port timing is a lot better on the force motor.

The savage xl comes with a better drivetrain, i think:\

What many recommend is getting the savage xl, sell the motor on ebay and get a motor of quality, like a picco or a lrp. If I had thought of this when I got my savage, I would have done that.

great topic here...my first nitro rc was the t-maxx 2.5 years ago. great truck!!! broke a few things from bashing. my next nitro was the savage .21 when it first came out. when it comes to think of it, i never broke anything from bashing. i lost a few drive shafts, but as far as parts broken....nothing. i've owned my share of traxxas and hpi's monster trucks. I currently have a revo 3.3 and a savage x ss that i just finished building a few days ago, and to this day, in my PERSONAL opinion HPI is more durable. and as far as a choice between the savage x or xl, that's your personal preference. I do beleive that the savage x ss kit comes with the heavy duty drivetrain, like the one found in the xl, but you would need the electronics. the 4.6 motors are great motors. i haven't read a lot about the k5.9 motors. it's your personal taste... hope this helps

Which one is faster, top end and from stopped to top end. How does there speed compare to the T Maxx 3.3... Which one has more wheely poping power. I am going to order one tonight or tomorrow. I can't make up my mind..
Thanks

i haven't owned a t-maxx 3.3. the savage is a 1/8 scale while the t-maxx is a 1/10 scale. if i had to say, the t-maxx is faster, just because i have a revo 3.3 and they are faster on the take off then the savage 4.6., however the savage has all sorts of torque. it's a wheelie monster...i would go with the savage personally because i've owned both. they both have about the same top end. the traxxas may be a little bit faster, but not by much. the savage is far more durable than the t-maxx and has loads more torque than the 3.3 simply because it has a big block engine. You can have fun with both, but when it comes to bashing, the savage is your best choice because of it's durability

When I said witch one is faster, I meant between the Savage X 4.6 vs Savage XL 5.9. I'm sure my T Maxx would spank em both with the picco. I am simply trying to find out which one of the savage's to buy. I like the xl, but I dont want it if it is a turd, plus it is 100.00 more.

i've read that they're both about the same. tit for tat. that's ur decision. the XL is just longer with a .36 engine instead of the .28 in the x.
