ok i just have a few questions i took my truck into my local hobby shop and i dont think they put it together right i have a savage x it rolls forward just fine but when i push it backwords it acts like the brakes are buing applied i dont know it this is normal the big main gear black that u can see acts like its sticking when u move it forward and then they replaced a part it was a dog bone in the front and was wondering how easily that brakes because i have only ran it a couple times thanks

Like Notvery said, it should roll fairly smooth in both directions. Replacing a dogbone should not change things.

If I were you, I'd check your mesh between the engine & trans. If you are running the plastic gear on the trans (which is just fine), you'll notice that when you spin the gear, it does not run perfectly true. If the guys at your LHS set the gear mesh where it was a bit "loose," & did not check it where the gear ran a bit tight, it will tend to drag a bit, especially in reverse. If this is the case, you may need to loosen the 4 motor mount screws and adjust.

You can see if it's the brakes, or gear mesh by completely backing off the rake adjustment screw. If it still does it, it's most likely the mesh

well it only rolls non smothley when i push it backwards but it rolls fine forwards and i just wondered how easily that dog bone broke

mine did that to it is the motor to spur gear mesh its way to tight u should be able to roll it back and forth with no problems

check your spur gear mesh, pick the truck up and manualy spin it either way. check your diffs, lift one side up (left or right) and spin the each tire both directions, the tire on the other side should spin in the opposite direction. (if you hear clicking and its jerking/jumpy then the diffs bad)
check to make sure your break pads are not warped.
open the tranny and check for broken gears or something in there.

Loosen the engine mount bolts under the chassis and set the mesh. You want as little amount of play as possible, all the way around the gear. There has to be play, just the smallest amount. It should spin smoothly if it isn't damaged from being set wrong.

you can put a strip of printer paper inbetween the cb and spur gear, push the engine into the spurgear (not shove) tighten the bolts and pull the strip of paper out and the mesh will be near perfect
