G'day lads.

had a good bash last night, then was driving it home and had a pretty mediocre roll... then it was FWD only! :gulp:

So I fipped her upside down and turned both the rear wheels and it felt completely normal. It turned the driveshaft into the gearbox without a problem. :whhooo:

So what inside the G'box is buggered before I take it apart? I have an assembled 3 speed on the way but i'd like to be able to sell the 2 speed if it's fixable? :bandit:

Thanks in advance

With the weight of the Savage, any roll it takes is putting quite a bit of force on the parts that absorb the impact.

you may had finished off some teeth on the rear ring gear
pretty common for the stock unshimmed savage diffs
take a peak.

you may also just be missing one of the grub like/ screw pins that go into the cvd cup and through the pinion/output shaft on the rear of the truck

are you talking about centre diff?? is there one? the shaft is turning fine and firm from rear axles to gearbox... i'm sure the prob is the g'box.

You might have killed the rear diff. Thats what happened on mine...(truck in the air), when u turn one wheel the other one on the other side is supposed to turns in the opposite way...but mine didn't. Its just an idea.

good call racer, that was exactly it. musnt have come with loctite from factory. thats so stupid. moved the front pin to the rear so she's just RWD now... got the pin on order but it wouldn't want to be expensive!!!

I guess that HPI doesn't loctite them, it's happened to every Savage owner I know.
