rumor has it that HPI made a Savage X conversion kit for the guys with the older models. has anyone seen or heard a baseline price?

It has the 2-speed tranny. (according to their web-site) The LE came with the 3-speed? Diffs and tranny are supposed to come out easier. Lower CG. Redid the radio box. Got 17mm wheels. Some of the parts won't fit the others. Just what I have been reading.

I think they are listening to everyone. But I'm sticking with my .25 RTR. Can't swing the bucks.
I like the lower CG. Like that they redid the radio box.
Never had a problem with taking the diffs or tranny out. Not much on the 17mm wheels either. Just not the choices there are with the 14's. Just my $0.02....

I just bought an X.

From what I can see, they have:
Redesigned radio box
Lower CG Chassis
easier diffs and gearbox
17mm hubs
lighter arms
mill (4.1 vs 3.5)
dual slipper
tf-3 radio (downgrade from 25rtr) two channel so you must change it to use reverse. Stupid IMO
wheels/tires
bumpers have more flex to them
gt2 body
plastic roll bar/handle
mill roll bar/protector
air filter
adjustable shock tower positions
rotostart 2 (now this a really like. It has a circuit breaker in it that helps keep from screwing OWBS)
Regeared tranny

I might have missed a couple things, but that's the jist of it.

i know some parts will be interchangable, but i heard that HPI put together conversion kit. in the area of 100+ bucks for just about all the newer plastics, tvps, diff and tranny case...things to that nature. has anyone see this yet? my lhs is not the best so its tough to get a straight answer from him

in the add in the Rcdriver magazine it said "Fully Compatible: -Most exsisitng savage option parts will fit, and all Savage X parts will fit on all previous savage trucks". I think Ill be sticking with the Savage 25 as well. I just dont see any drastic changes that catch my eye.

I looked at their web-site pretty hard. Not seeing a conversion kit.

They are show a kit to lower the CG in the new option parts. It lists for $115. That was all I could find.

I have found the parts that fit and don't fit. This taken from HPI. If I'm not allowed to copy it, please have one of the mods delete.

Compatibility!
Careful attention has been paid to maintain the tradition of Savage aftermarket support. Most of the new Savage X features are compatible with the long list of Savage aftermarket parts already available, and older Savage trucks can be upgraded to most of the exciting new parts found on the Savage X.

Savage X parts that will fit on past Savage trucks:

Nylon Rollcage (engine protection)
Warlock Wheels* (stronger 17mm hex hub)
17mm Hex Hubs (stronger)

Shock Towers (additional shock locations)

I just went to the LHS for some odds and ends and they had one sitting out and the guy let me open it up and take a look. I have to say one thing, the stocker body sure does look good! Otherwise, what Busted says is about what I saw. Looks like a nice, clean rig to me! Guy had it for sale for $449.99.

Looks nice, but my savage I like better. Not really anything I wont on the new one, mine handle like a dream and is pretty bulletprof. Someone thats going to get into raceing and dosnt have a race ready savy this would be a good choice.

Maybe I am the only one who likes this but only 6 screws to change a diff? THAT is GREAT, and the new radio box Awsome. I am glad they redid the truck I hate it when companys wear out a good product...

Yeah that is one of the things I really like about the Sacage X. Ill be putting one on my 25 down the road.
