I have just fitted the aluminium exhaust cone to my savage X 4.6, it seems to make it a tiny bit quieter but not a lot, but it seems to reduce the power a fair bit, before I fitted it I could wheelie anytime with no problem but now it won't even wheelie at all. Has anyone else used one of these? I was just wondering if you needed to re-tune the engine or anything? Or does anyone know if you can get a quieter pipe without loss of power or any other way of making it quieter?

anytime you change anything with the engine you will have to retune because you are altering how it runs..

Also, not sure on the Savage, but in general, anytime you reduce the size of a tuned pipe, you will sacrifice some power. That's just how it works.

as long as you dont lean too much i would do alittle at a time and make high speed passes to make sure it isnt too lean.

Ok thanks, I decided to remove the cone in the end, I guess you just have to accept the fact that savages are loud.
