ok heres the deal i recently traded for my savy and i see all these ppl talking about savages and how the wheelie and stuff

i have mine tuned i feel very good good smoke .excellent power thru-out rpm's
and running 235 -240
why is it not even tring to wheelie??
does the reverse hold it back that much ?
i am running 15t bell and 49t spur
not sure what else to do to it short of removing the reverse
any help would be great .
thanx
rick

ok I would first try to lean it out on the lsn, but make sure there is some exhaust. Also try to tighten your slipper all the way down. thats what i did and it pops em up.

You can also add another spacer to the shocks to help stiffen them up.

i just needed to know by adding the reverse if that is whats holding back the performance of the savage ,like it does in the tmaxx
not sure if it something in the reverse mod itself but my tranny does not spin free at all with it in,i took it out last night and it is really free now and feels good ,i liked reverse but if it is going to hurt my performance then i will leave it out

1 more thing
does anyone make a stronger motor mount brace for the savy?
i know i need a cage but i hit a bad landing yesterday flat on its roof and bent the rear mount brace to the point that it will not even come close to the spur i just want a stronger pc for there if there is 1

Which Savage do you have? If you do not have a three shoe clutch, add one. My S-25 would not even think about wanting to wheelie, when I put a three shoe clutch on it, I can wheelie easily now. But remember wheelies are only fun for a little while, after that they can be a pain in the ass. You can't steer a vehicle with the front wheels in the air.

I had mine wheelieing pretty good in the grass the other day. Won't in the dirt though. Don't guess it gets enough traction. Stock 25 didn't wheelie that good. (I ported mine.)

Cheapest thing would be to change the gearing. Might get it to wheelie more frequent. 3 speed should help it.

ncnitro,i have the savage .25 and it does have the 3 shoe clutch and the 4 gear mod along with the new steering assembly ,i am currently running a new bigblock cvec pipe with daul stingers and a motor saver filter w/outer filter

honestly i do not want it to wheelie constantly ,i just want ot make sure i have it tuned for optimum performance and not over heat it ,i have found that the revo tire/wheel work excellent on the savy ,dont care for the stock HPI wheel/tire combo for the savy too much roll
i kept my revo's till i can ge tthe cash for a set of 40 series
i hate to sound like a jackass but i never had a big block before other then my axis ,i just want to be sure of temp range of the .25

you can prolly get a few more deg out of it with no problems.. mine runs strong right about 260..

ok i will tune for performance and then dbl check temps and see how it reacts at 250/260ish
thanx

My S-25 runs awesome at about 260.

As far as your pipe choice, I have NEVER liked cvec pipes. Everyone I know either gutted them then they ran ok, or got rid of them completely. You might want to think of trying a different pipe.

Try tightening up the header to the pipe. If you push it closer together, you'll get more low end torque.

Reverse is not holding it back. My stock S-25 would wheelie sometimes on pavement with reverse and 15/49 gearing. Tighen the spur and try a different pipe. Are you running a Motorsaver filter? The HPI ribbed and the HPI polished dual chamber and both good pipes. My Picco 26 wheelies constantly with 19/47 gears, reverse, and the HPI Polished dual chamber pipe.

what do you mean gut them out ?
take the piston and spring assembly out ??
as for right now i am on a very limited budget well iwill be for the next 3 to 5 months anyway i finally got my comp checks from work and they are close to what i made weekly but still hurts
:-)

Sorry, I thought you wanted to wheelie.
Mine runs about 260 on the temp.

done it ,thank you
i will keep an eye open for a deal on a ripple pipe
thanx guys for the help and opinoins

stiff rear suspension and the stock s25 tuned for smoke and performance wheelied mine on grass. just put the extra spacers that came with it in the rear to get the springs a good pre-load so the ass end doesn't squat and it should wheelie.

I think it should still be pulling wheelies, even with the cvec pipe. My 25 with the plastic pipe, still popped wheelies all the time.
