Savage vs Tmaxx

well the t-maxx will most likly win... but if they win just look at them and say lets go bashing... I am willing to bet that your savage will last longer

My neighbor has a T-Maxx 2.5 and I race him on the street all the time with my SS. We just raced today. He is totally stock and my only mod is a MotorSaver filter. Our acceleration and top speed are almost identical. Whoever starts first stays ahead. I helped him setup and tune his 2.5 and I even sealed his backplate and carb. My stock S-25 holds a tune better than his T-Maxx 2.5 and his truck seems to break on a daily basis. My Savage is much louder than the T-Maxx (not really a good thing).

The T-Maxx has a clutch inside the transmission that will allow the motor and spur gear to spool up a bit before it launches. That allows the T-Maxx to ride wheelies more often than the Savage (although my Savage does wheelie big time on pavement if I try hard). The T-Maxx has a smaller gas tank and it runs out of gas more often than I do.

The stock T-Maxx ride height is significantly lower than the stock Savage ride height. This allows the T-Maxx to take sharper turns at high speed than the Savage without flipping. The T-Maxx will sometimes do an oversteer spin out when taking a really sharp turn at high speed. The same type of turn would put my Savage up on two wheels. The steering radius of the two trucks is close but the T-Maxx may have a slighly tighter steering radius.

tmax=1/10 scale Svage = 1/8 scale, id like to see traxxes make a 1/8 scale truck then comapre the 2, obvisously there will be signifcant differences between the 2. persoally i think if u had a true 1/8 tmaxx vs a savage, that the sav would smoke the max off the start and in handling etc.... just my .02 cents

the t-maxx dose turn a lot sharper then the savage 21 i have moto cross track here we race the a lot they land about the same off a jump but the t-maxx seems two go faster to me curtis

i drove a savage today, and i don't think that the handling is near as good as the t-maxx. i also think that the t-maxx feels a lot lighter and would out peform while both in stock condition. i agree that the savage will take a lot more beating, and doesn't break as much

yes lighter=1/10 SCALE Savage=1/8 scale, personally i dont think the maxx should run in the same class as the Savage or any other 1/8 scale for that matter. shouldnt even be compared to any other 1/8 scale, if ur saying the maxx is better cause its lighter then u have it all wrong.. weight to power to size difference is relavent and sure the maxx turns on a tigter radius, only because it is a 1/10 SCALE not a 1/8, shorter wheelbase=tighter cornering. sry for being so argumentive but kinda tired of this 1/8 to 1/10 scale comparisons when everything concerning size, weight, and SCALE is very relavent.. its like comparing the quickness of something smaller usually quicker) to something bigger like a savage

The handling is not that far off. I really have no problem running with the T-Maxx on the street. The difference in handling is caused by the ride height. The CG of the Savage is much higher. When I ran in the HPI Challenge I lowered my truck because we raced on a road course. When my truck was lowered it definitely turned sharper at speed (without losing control) than a T-Maxx running the stock ride height. A lower CG is capable of turning faster without flipping over.

i will say that the savage might be a tick slower, but 2day again when we were runnin/workin on the track 2day....the savage kept runnin, the maxx's kept havin nigglin issues or so twitchy thus hard 2 handle.

can see examples of this in my latest videos down below

If u put a .21 Conversion Kit on a Maxx wouldnt it be considered a 1/8 scale ¿?¿?¿?

Could there be a way to beat the T-Maxx or Revo in a race using a Savage? :boxing:
Perhaps with lowered chassis, lightweight parts, 40,000 rpm engine, and Maxx tyres?

I thought the conversion kit would make the Maxx longer plus you drop a .21 engine in it.....thats all i thought u had 2 do 2 have a 1/8 Maxx...

They say maxx is a 1/10 but look how much bigger it is compared to other 1/10 scale trucks, like Stampede. The older version are fairly smaller than a Savage but the newer ones are supposed to be about the same size only sit lower to ground.

The TMAXX is one tuff truck

I have had my tmaxx for three years and havn't broken anything major yet, and all I do is backyard bash. 1 shock, and an axle yoke in three hard years, even after upgrading to an O.S. MAX .18 CV-RX

Have own a T-Maxx and Savage, put them through the same paces, and like the Savage better. I also thought that when one puts a conversion into a T-Maxx, it becomes a 1/8 scale, it is 1 inch longer, without a .21 engine, same lenght as a Savage. The T-Maxx might go fasting but myself perfer reliability of a Savage. Just my opinion.

I also own both a savage and a maxx, I ended up getting the sav because I was tired of fixing and replacing broken parts, everytime I'd come home from bashing first thing the Mrs. would ask is what did you break this time, then again I'm an aggresive basher, I can honestly say I'm much more confident with the sav, its taken pretty nasty tumbles and nothing broken or bent, I'd bet any amount of money had my maxx gone through the same mishapps I would have had to visit my LHS yet again. just my 2.
