with out using a sway bar what is the the best way to keep the SS from rolling while turning? I was thinking of getting 40 series Big Joes. Will that help?
 
I have the road rage 40s and they wont let me roll. Now it might be becasue of the grip or the size of the tire i dont know yet. But when i do i will let you know

You can also try loosening up your suspension a bit. If it is too stiff and too high it can cause you to tip. By lowering the suspension and softening it up a bit it allows the truck to "roll" before it will tip.
 
The 40 series wheels will help also.They widen the truck a bit and help it handle better.The tire have a smaller side wall and it helps also.If you go with the 40 series rim/tires DO NOT get the velocity 6 rims or the Big Joes.The Velocity rims strip out very easy and the Big Joes are one of the heaviest tire on the market.I use the Outback Weld 40 Series from the TXT-1.Savage Central sells wheel adapters for them and they work great!!!I haven't stripped a wheel since I put them on.Read this article if you want to learn more about them: http://www.savage-central.com/ftopic758.html

A combonation of the new wheels and a softer suspension will make the truck handle very nice.I haven't rolled mine in a turn for a while now.I'm using 20wt silicon fluid in my HB threaded shocks(do not buy these either!!!) with the equalivelent of one shock spacer on all 4 corners.
 
Sway bars are the way to go. I made some for my Savage 26 and they're great. The parts are pretty easy to come by and it's not a terribly hard mod to do. I plan on doing a how-to soon now that I got it tested and am pleased with the results. It does require modifying the lower suspension arrms by drilling a bolt hole in a funny place and at an odd angle, and cutting slots on the side diff bulkheads. The parts needed are a set of Kyosho sway bar ball ends (I'll get the part number), some GS 5.8mm rod ends, a section of 4-40 full threaded rod, 4 3mm socket head bolts, some brass tubing and some music wire, and (the ever present) Zip ties.

If anyone is interested in doing this mod, let me know and I'll start working on a how-to article to post here.

I would be intersted in reading about the mod error. I have the dual tank mod, brake mod and maybe the linkage mod on my list to do in the very near future. I could add this one too. :)
 
mcvickj - I'll try to get something online soon.

Two things about the GPM sway bar; 1) looks complicated, 2) looks expensive. The parts for the ones I did came to about $20 for the whole set.

Also, how in the world does a sway bar destroy a servo?
 
I used the dynamite which is very similar, in no way can I see how it can destroy a servo. It did however limit the front suspension travel, but handled great in the corners.
 
ya how does a swaybar destroy a servo, u dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that the sway bar has nothing to do with the servo.

It prevented wheel movement. After going through 2 servo savers and 1 servo I just removed the swaybar and it works great again.
 
I can see that as being possible. That GPM one does look a bit wide in the middle. Do the links get mounted to the lower arms out toward the wheel? I really can't picture where the hell the small purple things get mounted to.
 
They get mounted to the top of the knuckle and where the upper A-arm attaches to the steering block.
