I'm getting a new truck for x-mas and i thought i would ask you guys before i go out and make a wrong choise. my choises are Savage SS or the Savage .25
help

Do you like kits or RTRs? That is probably the most important decision. There is really no comparison after that.

Are the SS and 25 the same truck? Is the only different that one comes prebuilt and the other does not?

rtr 25
stock dogbones,
new tank
roto start
stock upper arms
3 shoe clutch
radio system and pre built

ss
hd bones
adjustable upper arms
pipe

there... thats the differances in the 2 kits..

well i do not know a ton about the RTR but i can give you my summery of the SS. Personaly if you have any experiance building kits i would go with the SS. Since you built it you know how to fix stuff when it breaks or you have to make adjustments to anything. I like mine a lot and it comes with some stuff you will eventualy wind up wanting to get later. Also the tranny and the diffs are prebuilt so that speeds up the process. i built mine in about 1.5 days. As far as kits go it is fairly straight forward but since all the parts are big it can be a bit akward to hold while you are building. The only real annoyance i had with it is that the instructions contain no words just pictures. The pictures are very nice and clear but i think it would be better if they were complemented with words. Hope this helps some.

I think I'll buy one of each because I can't make up my mind. Or may the SS or the 25 I don't know maybe by the time the 25 hits the store I'll have made up my mind. My thing is that the 25 come with some better stuff and then so does the SS. Okay think I got it, wait on the 25 and get the hd bones, adjustable upper arms, pipe and anything esle to make it better. When I get the 25 I'll take it completly apart and put it back together that why I'll be able to put Loctite on everything ang get a good look at how it all works. Plus it will help me learn more about the truck. Maybe Hpi will come out with The SAVAGE SS 2 so I don't have to get a RTR because that is a part of the fun for me is putting it all together.

I personally feel that building a kit is half the RC fun. When you buy a RTR, sure you can make it run quicker, but you're really missing out on a major part of the hobby.

I don't have a MT yet and the Savage SS is going to be it. I'd like to have the improved gas tank and the three shoe clutch that comes with the 25 RTR, but having the kit experience and knowing I can upgrade later compensates.
