I got my savage broken in a few days ago and am almost through a gallon. Its been like 20-30 out so i have been running with foil around the head ot keep temps up and most the time its been at 220 and the highest it got to was 265 when it wasn't moving. Still bogs a idle and shuts off when idleing for more than 10-15secs. And if it idles for 10 secs and i gun it, it will bog and cut out. SO i think i need to lean it out a lil. How do you tell how much to lean out the HSN? Still smokes when going all outand runs pretty strong on the top end. Got the shift point adjusted pretty well. But when the tank is full sometimes it won't shift into second.

Also my slipper clutch was stuck from the factory and wouldn't slip till i losened it all the way and popped it free and retightened. i still need to tighten it more because the engine will rev up and i won't spin the tires when in thick stuff. I also had to regule 2 tires after hitting a baseball sized rock going full speed. It flpped up and cartwheeled a bunch of times landed ont he tires and kept going but the tire was wobbling and i found out it had rpped the chrome it was glued to off.

Just lean the HSN in 1/8th of a turn incriments until you get good performance withut going over temps.

Only problem is that its 30 degrees out and i don't think it can overheat. So its hard to tell. Should i just look for the smoke?

Its still possible to overheat the engine no matter what the air temperature is. I would follow AC48's advice as well.

enjoy the truck, its a mean 1! baby the engine, so what if it runs a lil rich on top. last much longer.
