The springs that come with the kit are just fine, you can get 15+ feet of air without bottoming out with the stock springs.

Oh, and another charger you could look at is the charger that comes with the Revo...thats a much better charger than the other one I linked you to. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMAD6&P=ML It also chargers 7.2v stick packs in case you want to use roto start.

ok great thanks!! i didint know i could charge hump pack with that charger although thinking about it now i guess it wouldn't make a difference.. any ways! i have had my revo for a wile now so i already have one of those chargers and will use it unless i find a problem with it or if it quits charging thanks!!
 
did they ever fix the bearing problem with he os 30vg? i heard they had bad bearing that would just "explode" or fail for some reason?
 
I thought that problem was on the OS .21 V-Spec...never heard of that problem on the .30 but idk for sure.

If you are worried about that and haven't bought an engine yet, take a look at the Picco .28, I was just out running mine today and the thing has crazy torque.

ohh ok thanks hows the top speed on that engine and is it as easy to tune as the os? thats why i love os so much is it hold a tune so well! ahh SO MANY ENGINES TO CHOOSE FROM! kinda confusing.. should i just use the stock clutch with each of these engines?

The Picco has more ports than most big blocks, and more ports means higher top end speed in general. I don't know how they did it but this Picco has tons of low end torque, and good top end speed. From what I have read, the OS 30 will have more torque than the Picco, but will not spin as many RPMs as the Picco will. I've had my Picco in a Savage before and it was a great engine. Plenty of torque to lift up the front wheels, but also good high end power. The Picco is more of an all around engine, whereas the OS is all about torque.

The stock clutch will be just fine.

thanks but i was asking if the picco was easy to tune i know the os engines are great but i was just looking for as much top speed as possible. thanks both of you! can't wait to get it! gonna be a couple months though.. just getting every thing ready to order all at once
 
The Picco has been easy to tune for me. You will be happy with either of these engines. If you don't have enough top end speed you can always mess with the gearing to get more. Both the engines have more than enough power for the savage so you can play around with gearing to get what you want for acceleration and top speed.
 
i have the picco .27 in my savage, mine has been very forgiving to tune....

but for me i think it may have nearly to much power, if your kinda new to the hobby you MAY not want ultimate power...
 
I've been in the hobby about 2 and a half years but just really got into it about a year ago i have a revo with 0s18tm and other "go fast" hop ups so i am confident that i will be able to control either of these engines... i hope.
 
Yeah you will, you'll just have to get used to the idea of throttle control, or you'll be running to flip your savage over many times.

Ya know there is a wheelie bar available for the savage, may want to look into that haha.

ok i think i have been convinced... what plug and fuel should i run with the picco .28 for general all around go fast bashing and will the ribbed pipe still be a good pipe for this engine?

and if any one else has any comments about weather i should get the picco.28 or the os 30VG i want to hear them! thanks again
 
I run HPI 20% fuel, and I run the plug that came with it, which I believe is this one: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGPN3&P=7

The ribbed pipe is a good pipe. It is a very loud pipe, and is tuned for torque. I'd try running the truck on the polished pipe that it comes with and the ribbed and see which you like better. The ribbed might not allow for the high speeds you can get with the polished, but the difference in top speed will be pretty minimal.

I now have a couple more questions..

What Mccoy plug will fit in the picco .28 and run good with 20%?

Is this mod:http://www.savage-central.com/article28.html "Spider gear diffs" mod recommended or needed on the Savage x ss 4.6 or did they already fix what ever the reason for doing this mod was?
 
Same as for the OS, I would try the MC-9 and see how it runs.

That mod already comes on the X SS. That mod was only needed on the original Savages, like a few years ago haha. I think the X SS even has alloy diff cups...either way, your diffs will be as strong as they can in the X SS.
