Well its’ just a ”replacement” for the stock one it has the same dimensions it’s just the material it’s made of. So it should be easy enough to install.
Just open the gearbox and take of the E-clip that holds the particular gear and replace it with the new one (see the savage manual page 27 & 28)
Personally I have just recently had my gearbox taken apart to clean and re-grease the gears

the stock gear that you're talking about is metal, steel I think. Is the one you posted about an "alloy" replacement gear (ie Aluminum)? If it is, I'd keep the steel one if you have a Picco.

As for taking the tranny apart, the hardest part is getting the tranny out of the truck. The tranny is pretty strait forward and easy to work on (after it's out).

Skela, what grease is good for the tranny? I like chain lube at the moment, but am always looking for something better. Also, does greasing the gears (like in your pic) cause any probelms with the shift adjustment screw?

i know the stock gear is metal but what i'm looking for is the 2 gears below that in alloy, carbon steel any thing but plastic...and yes the new one is alu.
