Ok so i planned for the K5.9 to go into my RS4-2. i have all the reasrch as far as what i need for the swap etc...

Now the more and more i read people saying that the 5.9 is absolute junk. With that being said, and as a non savage owner... whats better. I was planning on a 3speed but now after reading peoples comments the 2speed is better?

Either the 4.6 H.O or the K5.9 from the XL.

Sorry i didnt search to see if this was already a topic. :D

already have one made :p: lol. it will fit either of the 2 savavge motors.

Cool. I don't personally know of the 5.9 but I've heard plenty of great stuff about the 4.6. You'll probably get more rev's from the 4.6 anyways.

I put as OS .21RZ in my old RS4 a while back and it was crazy. I kept chewing up belts and pullies but the thing was insane with just the single speed. I would go with the 4.6 over the 5.9 for your project, you wont need the added power, what you want is RPMs.

Most HPI engines aren't really good compared to other brands. You can try to fit an OS30VG or a Picco 28-P3. If I were you, I'd stick with small-block engines for the higher RPM's = faster speed.

The 5.9 is basically the same dimensions just a lot taller. If the standard 4.6 will fit so should the 5.9. But I mean why? A hot .21 would be faster since it turns higher RPM. Not like you would be hurting for torque in a 5lb car.

I've got to agree with the others here. I think you should be looking at RPMs instead of torque unless it's just something you want to do for poops and grins. Can we please get some footage when you do this either way? I just want to see it.

why?QUOTE]

Private (mom and pop) hobby store down the road buys all rc cars and trucks... well they got a savage and a sav XL. both got ran over or whatever inthe front. all the eingine and tranny still works. he wants 250 for them both complete. :first_place: I'm going next monday to buy. as he just got them in.

also, last year i almost bought the 5.9...like my finger was ALMOST ready to hit the commit to buy button on ebay. then... i chickend out. LOL.

Pic/vids will be the first to come :D.

hopefully this crap is finished by early may, thats when i leave for basic :(

Well i know this may defeat the purpose of this as what I'm going to suggest isnt a motor from the savage. But why not get a 2 speed, or 3, up to you. And get something like a LRP z.30 with something like 3 or 4 ports? Insane torque and the gears give you the speed.

When I built mine I found that the .21 had so much power for such a small lightweight car that I was able to gear it very high and it would still spin all 4 tires easily and was able to probably get close to 60 -65 mph with just the single speed setup.

But hey...I'm not judging....I put a .25 on a tiny 1/10 2 speed buggy. Tranny last two very fast laps around the yard....

thats for the input guys!. i think I'm just going to go with the 4.6 and the 5.9 truck i went and looked at it. its not that bad but i kept my mouth shut. all it needs is new front suspension and axles. other than that, i drove it around the parking lot slow. (bc there are no front axles and front suspension is broke) worked perfect. i might just fix and drive it! my 3 staduim trucks now arnt ment for what i wanna do :)
