I was just wondering how you tell which savage model you have? I bought a used one recently I'm thinking it came with the 4.6. Has huge tires on it with nubs still on them, real nice radio from the looks of it haven't got to play with it yet. Everything seems to be in good shape. Got it for $115 shipped. The motor was said to not been working but it seems to have good compression. Havent got to try to start it need a glow plug ignitor. I can't get mine from traxxas to work on there. Wire wont go on the glow plug.

I hope this savage treats you a lot better than that slayer you bought used. But for 115 I would've jumped on that too. I'm not sure how to identify the truck but provide some pics and someone on here should know.

Ya me to this is for my little cousin. Will be getting me a new one here n a few weeks. I think the tires and remote was prolly pretty close to the 115 shipped. Ill post pics when i get home.

think it was a good deal? What makes you think that it's that model? Just trying to gain more knowledge. Thanks for all the help.

I agree with Racer, either that or a .25 with an upgraded engine. Not too bad of a deal all in all I would say. Decent price for a roller.

I had it out earlier today motor runs fine. Everything worked decent on it except the steering servo. It has a airtronics remote system with the servos in there. I was wondering if I switched it to a hpi servo if it'd still work with this radio? Not sure how that works. Had the slayer out with it to was running like a champ. Thinking about getting rid of the slayer when I get another savage.

I'd say you got a good deal. but I would recommend you upgrade the steering servo. You can get a decent servo that has 200oz of torque real reasonable.

You can tell it's not a Savage X simply by the the fact that the side plates would have the "X" cut right in them. The SS is just an upgraded .25 but I said it's the SS because of the combo of parts,I don't think someone would upgrade to that exact combo.

kinda jelous of my cousin he has the savage i have the slayer. Slayer runs great just dont have the tracks or right surface around here for it. Will be getting me a new 5.9 for my own christmas. Would like to find a body or someone that paints them to get a different body.

But one of the rear rims is screwed up it has a bad wobble to it. I was just wondering how I'd go about getting a new rim for this one and not screw up thet tire when taking it off to switch the rim. I haven't seen a number or name on these tires.

The backplate came off the motor after we was taking them out today.

Everything on these things break eventually. Just keeping up with the maintenance. The back plate screw you need to locktite with green or blue when you put it back on. Essentially anything that has metal threads you go into needs locktite. I can't wait to get my Savage back up and running. It has been a back burnered project for...oh.. two years now?

Just make sure you seal that motor and loctite the backplate screws. You night get sick of the roto start backplate getting full of oil so I switched mine to pull start.
