hi, just replaced my spur gear in my savage as the old one stripped dew to engine coming lose.i put loctite on screws for engine so that shouldnt happen again.when i took the savage out for a run it wouldnt shift into second gear,so i tightend the nut a little then tried again still not shifting into second, kept doing this untill it shifted into second gear, thought i had sorted it then all of a sudden lost all drive? do you think i over tightend the nut and broke something in the gearbox as the nut no longer tightens, just keeps spinning on the shaft, also the alloy part behind the spur gear was very hot burnt my finger ha ha, hope you can help.:D

It almost sounds like the slipper is not tight enough. If that slips, it won't shift properly. If you glazed it from too much slippage it won't move it at all.

Check your tranmission. I had that problem, I checked the tranny and the first gear (the big plastic one) was stripped.

I have kinda the same problem with my savage x , i can't get mine to shift to second.....i know tuning issues will keep them from shifting......when they shift can you hear them like you can a tmaxx?. mine may be shifting and I'm not hearing it......i did notice my slipper pad was glazed a little bit when i had the spur off of it last night....i guess that could be the problem.:\

more than likely that is the problem...the only other issue to think about is if its shifting way too early, you wont hear that either

Thanks for all the reply's everyone.
i think something is broke as i could here it changing into second gear, when i lost drive i tried tightening the nut where the spur gear fits on but the whole shaft is turning with the nut, i will try and strip it today and have a look. thanks again everyone:):):)
