Hi;

I pulled the trigger and ordered a Flux HP Savage from AMain... I'll start out running nimh until I can the hang of it's speed and then look at lipo.

I want to make sure to avoid burning the thing up the first day so any tips or warnings from anyone would be welcome, thanks!

(it'll be here in a couple days woohoo!)

Since you are starting out with NiMh packs, it will be a simple plug and play.

You may want to consider installing the wheelie bar if you don't to scrape the rear up.

Have fun!

Thanks much!

There seems to be a wide range of pricing on both lipo batteries and lipo chargers. What would be some good reasonably priced lipo battery & charger options? This is my first lipo, probably not the last, so I'd want something decent but nothing high dollar or race / competition level. I just like to make it fly and make the kids laugh ;)

Any break in procedure required on new electrics or new NIMH?

You should cycle the NiMh packs at least 3 times before use.

The brushless setup requires no break-in, but you should take it easy for about a minute to make sure there are no issues and then let it rip.

Excuse my ignorance, cycle before use? I assume you're talking about some slow rate discharger or...?

Cycling is the process charging, discharging and then charging the pack. Always make sure the pack is cool to the touch before charging it back up during this process.

Most chargers have a cycling setting on them. A slow rate discharger will work if yours doesn't.

I use sky lipos in my flux and use the thunder ac6 dual power chargers. batteries are around 40 each and so are the chargers. incredible power from those batts and the chargers are simple but will charge anything

$40 beats the heck out of $150... Any idea why there is such a crazy price difference in chargers? I see some as low as $30 and up into the hundreds, same with the batteries in some brands.

The same reason there is a crazy price difference between buying a quality name brand RC and a NitroRCX RC.

I'd never heard of NitroRCX as yet but a quick search of reviews tells me all I need to know about that outfit...

I'm happy with my Sky batteries. Truck is capable of 3 backflips from a standing start with them (extremely hard to do but 2 backflips is easy). i wouldnt pay 150 for batteries when there are batteries out there that have the same performance.
