savage

I have a savage with a xtm 247 and a 17 t clutch bell (duratrax) The trk is fast out of the hole and blows by the tmaxx 2.5 and my buds hyper 8. I still have the stock head on the 24 and I run a cold pulg w/ 25% nitro. I can run it all day at 260.

patient be patient and you will find happy place. i got a 8port it was fast. got a picco.26 and wow:whhooo: way faster.I run a 18th cb and t'maxx size tires it's hard to ceap the frount down.Isay wate it was worth the price of the 8port just to see how much faster .26 is

Sky and I were just discussing this on another thread that got off topic (my fault). I just put a 16t on my 21bb and it's much faster now, though it won't wheelie or even dream of keeping up with your guys rides. My 21bb is scared of being replaced, cause it keeps on getting better (maybe I'm just learning to tune it right). I haven't ordered a hyper yet, so I might still get the 26.

LOL...These guys are getting wheelies because their back end is squatting all the way and the rear wheels are getting all the power to the ground. With an Outlaw, that is a lot of power....and that translates to a wheelie just as easily.

The clutch bell he is using is probably still not soaking up the RPMs the Outlaw has available.

I thank both have way more rpm than the tranny will allow so low end power = more speed. do you know if tranny hop-ups are out .

Actually it is low end power equals more torque which translates to faster jumps off the line and lower top speed. High end power gives the higher top speed.

As for tranny hop-ups, I know there are some stronger gears available. I'll have to look around and get back to you.

what about a single speed and a spool.would that allow the picco to get it's legs under for top speed. This is a good place to talk RC.

I think GH makes a diff lock. Not sure about a drop-in spool. As for single speed, run the shift point all the way in, but then you sacrifice top speed.

I've been wanting a MT for a couple months now and after reading thru different forums I've finally decided on getting the Savage because of it's reliability and size. The stock engine is the only thing holding me back from getting one right now. My question is will a Savage with a picco .26 outrun a stock tmaxx with the 2.5? I've read the shootout between all the major MTs in the new rc monster truck magazine and it shows the savage having a 31mph top speed and the tmaxx 45mph top speed. Will a savage with a .26 do better than 45mph? I realize top speed isn't everything but it sure does make things more interesting! And for those of you that have both a tmaxx and a savage, which one do you personally like better? Thanks.

Yes, I have a Tmaxx2.5, the .26 will sit on the 2.5. Invest in the Savage and the .26, you won't be disappointed. I have my 2.5 tuned perfectly, the .26 with my tuning, it incredible. My good friend has one. and I have helped him break it in a tune it. Trust me the .26 is a totaly different monster.
OH yeah, my 2.5 ate the fantom.15 that a local guy had. He wouldn't let me tune it for him, LOL, but it looked like there was a little left, but not enough to touch me. He said he had a couple gallons through it.
