ok, I'm expecting my savage to be in tomarro or tuesday. tomarro i am going to a hobby shop, they say they specialize in savage parts and acc. I'm gonna get a trs, some fuel , and a failsafe. anything else reccomended? maybe a back up glow plug or 2 and air filter?

thanks for the feedback

Definitely make certain you have a decent air filter. The HPI high performance air filter or the Motor Saver that shares the same design is a great filter. A fuel filter would be a good idea. Extra glo-plugs as you mentioned is a wise decision. If this is your first RC, make certain to get some fuel, batteries for the radio and receiver (recommend a hump-pack for the receiver), and a glo-ignitor.

Additional worth while hop-ups include:
The HPI dual disk kit.
Monster Pirate steering kit.
Look up the 4 gear spider mod on this site for another great upgrade that requires some extra parts.

Other than that, welcome to RCNT and a great hobby. You will certainly enjoy the Savage.

Hey just a word to the wise if by TRS you mean Throttle Return Spring than save your money because a stock savage comes with one. You also might want to pick yourself up an ofna slide carb linkage set and do the linkage the right way the first time. Later and welcome to a great truck.

what is the slide carb linkage set? how much? what does it do?

The slide carb linkage set is one of the cheapest mods you can do to your savage. The set should cost about $7.95 and it gives you full use of your carb. The stock savage linkage will only give you use of about 1/2 to 3/4th throttle. It will also improve braking. LMK if you need a link on how to do it. You may also want to pick up some extra races for the linkage I think that is an additional two dollars.

install the hpi dual brake kit before you even break-in. i wish i did the stock brakes suck. other than buy away at the lhs.

Ill tell you what not to waist your money on is aluminum bumpers and skids!!! there great for looks but if you jump like most of us you will spend more time trying to bend them back into shape then looking good!! just my 2 cents
