Ok so my kids took my savage into my local RC store because the brakes were no bueno and we had a piece missing. So apparently they fixed the brakes so well the truck will do front flips from hitting it too hard.. actually you don't even take off the brake if you just let off the throttle it will come to a stop. Well a couple tanks later suddenly it's not stopping again. How quickly do the pads wear out? What's the best option for me or troubleshooting I need to do? No way they've already burned out right? I mean I haven't gone through even 2 gallons of fuel yet.

So I understand: the truck was stopping at neutral? That is not good. The brakes are dragging and causing excess load on your engine.

It normally takes a very long time for pads to wear out--if ever. However, if you've been driving it like that...who knows what shape they are in.

The quickest fix would be to simply turn that thumb screw on your throttle linkage counter-clockwise. Keep doing this until the truck stops again when you apply the brakes. Do this with the engine off. Just ensure that it rolls smoothly while at neutral.

More than likely, either the linkage and/or your trim got changed some. I sent you a PM with additional info.

If the brakes were dragging in neutral, you shouldn't have driven it.
You put an extra load on everything and also overheated the pads. Chances are they glazed over and when they are hot they won't grab, just like any brakes.
Get them properly adjusted before running it again.

Did you get it worked out? There are other things to try if you haven't. Let us know.

I was told to take the brakes apart and try roughing them up with some sand paper then start from scratch. It's more than likely what Rolex said. I let someone else adjust them and they were too tight etc. So I'll figure out how to pull them apart and use the link I was sent to adjust them.
