Friend of mine just got a 25 so i helped him through the run in process and all was going well. Started tuning, very slowly at about tank 7 got bottom end sweet so started on the top end. Can not get it to move as quick as my 21 but thats not the problem, the problem is, after tuning to the max and running a couple more tanks in a friendly bash with smiling faces his 25 would just stop in its tracks and sit with engine at max throttle, after plugging exaust to stop it it would start up again and run ok for a while then do the same. He had reverse module fitted from hpi before they sent him the truck but how can the engine run so fast without moving the truck and why is it ok again after its been stopped. I like a challenge but not sure where to start with this one. Help..................Please

No pal, nothing out of the norm, just racing round a field then it will stop all by itself and just sit there on full throttle with no response from the tX. Once the engine is stopped it can then be started again and all will be ok for a short time then it will do it again for no reason that i can find.

Is the shift linkage adjusted and set right? The only reason I can think of where the engine is at WOT and it's not moving is that it's between gears (forward and reverse). As for the engine not responding to the Tx, are the radio batteries good, is the TRS (throttle return spring) set right, is the throttle linkage binding?

It's damned odd for sure. Also make sure the Rx crystal is seated good, or try another set of crystals. Check to see if the throttle servo is good (no stripped gears and such).

Try checking for ghost.:ha: Seriously now, this happened to me when I first installed my reverse module, what was happening with mine (it also took me a while to find out the problem), is that when I shift to reverse it would go, and forward will also be fine, but after a few minutes of bashing, it will stop and will spin endlessly without moving. I even called HPI I thought there was something wrong with reverse module.
Well, what's happening with mine was that the wire/bar that is attached to the servo that pulls the module for reverse, was not snug tight, therefore when you want to go forward it does not push the module all the way in. It goes in but probably 98% not all the way. Try checking that out. If that does not correct the fault, check the tranny, you might find something in there too.
Good luck on fixing in.

Cheers for that. Dont use reverse on my 21, never had the need for it so never thought it could be the cause of the problem on my mates brand new 25. Checked out what you suggested and guess what, yes you were right as usual. Gear was not engaging thanks to an incorrectly adjusted reverse module linkage, a few turns on the grub screws and a few mil shift then tighten back up is all it needed. Thanks a million for your help once again, i am happy cus my mate is smiling again, and my mate is happy cus his favourite toy is working like a dream. Still say its slower than my 21...:bling:
