i have a t maxx just now which i think is kinda fiddly, being new to rc someone told me the savage is a bit less demanding in terms of tuning, theres no way i would sell my t maxx as i have spent so much on hop ups and repairs but i am thinking of getting the new savage 5.9 and would welcome all serious comments on how the 2 compare and how fast the new savage goes etc, i know i have put this in the savage thread so i am expecting alot of yous to tell me its better but if you can tell me why or indeed it might not be better then just tell me why

cheers guys

The 5.9 turned out to be a dog of an engine. You'd be better off taking it right off and selling it, and putting that money towards a Lrp or Picco. The Maxx is a lot lighter, and the 3.3 is a high revving engine. Geared correctly, a Savage probably couldn't touch it on a track. But that would be missing the point with the Savage line. They're the king of bashers, and are much more stout out of the box than a Maxx.

+1 on the "king of bashers" comment. It is not really designed to be a track speedster, but can take abuse like nobody's business. Point being rcnewb, if you are a racer you may have better luck with the Maxx, but if you like tearing up the back yard then the Savvy is more your speed.

it depends on your diving style and money. the savage dont sit as low as the maxx out of the box but you can upgrade that. I've had good luck agains revos and tmaxxs both its all about your setup and how you drive it. and the savage ant going to break as easy out of the box like the tmaxx. all about setup.

well, having owned several t-maxx's and quite a few savages, i can honestly say out of everything i've owned so far i really like the savage xl, the extended chassis helps the truck not to constantly "wheelie". don't get me wrong, wheelies are great but it gets kinda aggrivating having a truck that just wants to stay on two wheels all the time, this november, i'll be adding a new truck to our collection, and if i do choose a savage x, i'll install the extended chassis kit as soon as i get it home. the 5.9 also has a 3 speed, which is really nice when ya want to "terrorize" a neighboring cat or two. hope this helps. kdogg

I would say go with the savage! After owning a tmaxx for a year and then finally manning up and buying a savage, the difference is like night and day. Of course I'm comparing the trx 2.5 against the f4.6 which is no comparison. But any who, the savage is WAY tougher!:D

I currenty own both. My T-MAXX 3.3 I bought new last year and have had a blast with it.! Having said that I have also had to repair or replace just about everything on it except for the fuel tank and the EZstart. The Savage I bought used a couple months ago I thought it was a 4.6 rtr but it turned out to be the older X model with a 4.1. I have replaced the engine with a 4.6 upgraded the brakes to the dual disc and replaced the spur gear and that's about it. The Maxx is lighter the 3.3 revs faster and higher but everytime i run it i wonder whats gonna break. Not so much with the savage it's built like a brick.

Ineed someone to please answer my question I have about my tmaxx differntials.please reply back thanks

You would be better off initiating your own question/thread in the T-Maxx forum instead of trying to hijack someone elses thread (especially one that's in the Savage forum).
