Hi guys, I have a savage xl 5.9 and it runs over 300+ if i richen it up a bit it goes down around 250-280 but wont even go fast enough to shift into 2nd gear. i checked for any air leaks on motor and opeded up the windshield.
i dont know if i'm feelin the love for this motor. any one have any ideas??
I may just see how long it last and buy a collari .32 and call it a day.

Alot of HPI models utilize the 3 needle carb and if your truck has the 3 needle carb too you may need to lean out the midrange needle or low speed needle some when you richen up the hsn..If it has a two needle carb you will just need to lean the lsn a lil to get the acceleration desired after richening the hsn. Using a glowplug best suited for the engine size and ambient temperature also helps with tuning and engine temps.

I richened up the hsn then adjusted the mid to get the best throttle responce.it would stand up in a wheelie off the start but wouldnt rev at all.
if i leaned out the hsn it would fly at top speed but heat up fast.i'm gonna try a cooler glow plug and try a different fuel brand????i'm using traxxis 20% now

I've heard bad things about traxxas fuel, i dont think that should affect the temp though if it is really only 20% nitro.

Loose the traxxas fuel and get something else like Byron gen2,O'Donnell,nitrotane.

You might have a leak in the front bearing or its just waaay to lean on the LSN.

High nitro, low oil with a cold plug. Start over on the tuning. Traxxas fuel has way too much oil.....oil burns hotter than fuel.

this happend to my 4.6 on my savage. The thing that happend to me was that it wasn't sealed good.Thats when i messed up my engine and had to buy a new one.Go to your hobby dealer and ask them =p.(this might not help)

Unknown123 is not responsible for any damage =p;)

Our's (Savage XL 5.9) runs like a raped ape! We use O'Donnell fuel, man this truck flatout gits it in all "3" gears.......and this is in Arizona heat!

Heat Prob.

I had the same issue when i first purchased mine even when i sealed the engine.. I use a a McCoy mc8 plug cold.. With Byron 25 % nitro fuel runs like a raped ape and runs nice and cool. Just my two cents..

thanks for the help guys, the fuel+ glow plug helped a little (around 290 now)
now the one way bearing slips for the 3rd time.i'm sick of taking this appart lol
new motor is in the works. maybee 2??=devil
