I have the 4.6 savage RTR. Today I blew out one of my front shocks and would like to just upgrade the entire set up using a single shock per corner. I would want it to be an IMPROVEMENT over the stock set up. What do you guys recommend?

What is the best Shock as far as adjust ability/performance/easy of installation... what would I need to purchase to get it all installed ready to run.

Thanks in advance, SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

I would replaced the bad shock and stick with the 8 shock setup.I have jumped many times with my savage and have never had any problems with the stock shocks. But if you really want to go with just four shocks go with LST shocks.

+1 on what mark said. the stockers are tough and cheap to replace if you blow one out. if u really want to go 4 shocks, take a look at using 4 rear buggy shocks or potentially a set of big bore truggy shocks.

oh and if u go the route of LST shocks, you'll need stand off to give you enough clearance.

I do know that our shocks are EXTREMELY LONG... what Shocks would be interchangeable... I know about the "STAND OFF's" already as I was looking at them at our local hobby track/shop. I just wanted to make sure that the stand off's I got would work with the shocks I go with... Do you guys have any part numbers or links to any of your suggestions...heck even links to where members of this or other forums have done this mod.

There are no shocks that will bolt on the savage without some kind of modifying. You will need different towers I'm sure and stand offs for the Losi shocks.Buggy or truggy shocks will need different towers too.Maybe some of our fellow savage owners who run LST,truggy or buggy shocks can step in and give more info.

Yeah I do understand there are no direct bolt on shocks... I'm just trying to get a list of what is needed to include shocks/hardware. I'm still on the fence and have not decided weather to stick with the stock set up or either bother with the single shock setup. I just want the best performing set up possible. I also like the adjust ability of some of the shocks out their.

The stock shocks have not been holding up well for me, I blew the top of one and now literally snapped the shaft end of another off. So I dont have much faith in the stock ones at this time. But I have been getting several responses suggesting I keep the stock shocks.

For the time being... at least till I can learn enough to make an informed decision, I just picked up a used set of stock shocks off Ebay... I would have liked to go with the single shock mod but honestly there is NOT enough information to do this as a "NEWBIE"

I have been looking at after market Shock towers... does anyone have any input on those? I would like to lower the overall COG just a hair to allow better track performance. Do these towers offer any noticeable benefit with all the multiple holes... sure they have all them holes but really.. they are all within a .25 of an inch from the stock location, I can't see them making that much of a difference... of do they?

This looks like just what I'm looking for... but MAN thats an expensive set up!

to do a 4 shock stup you need different shock towers. the multi position ones.

simular to these

I'm not saying these are the best ones to buy but you need something with the lower holes.

then you need 4 buggy rear shocks like this

again these may not be the best ones, just an example.

that stuff along with the proper mounting hardware (stand offs, screws, nuts, etc) you can run 4 buggy shocks. Olds ran this setup and he beats his rigs like a mad man...

the LST shock mod is expencive

it takes alot to hurt the stocks, i mean alot! i have 2 savages and have only had to replace 2 shocks in the 3 years I've owned them. and that was my fault! not product failure, driver stupidity! tried a trilordy video stunt, could have cleared my house height and length wise. cost me 2 shocks a pair of tvps and some front bulkheads.not bad considering the dive it took.you can see pix. search carnage in the members gallery.

of corse I've had to replace some seals and regular rebuilds.but thats norm for any shock.
