My buddy and I took the trucks out to his father's old factory last night to run them for a bit. He got a new radio that he wanted to install.

Took both nitro trucks out last night, he said his wasn't running right, but it's prolly also tuned for the warmer weather, but I was amazed at how much faster mine was compared to his T-Maxx 2.5. I walked all over his truck! :D But compared to the Savage 4.1, yeah the 2.5 T-Maxx would appear slower than smell! :hehe:

His seems to be a bit more high maintenance than my HPI and his seems a little more finicky. The Savage seems to have GOBBS more power than his, even off the line, roosting snow, jumping snow ramps from the plows, but mine also seemed to need to come to a complete stop before shifting out of second back to first again or it would bog. Even tho there was a significant difference with the engines.

I picked up some Trinity "Monster Blend" blend 20% fuel and my truck seemed to LOVE IT! Either that or the slight adjustment to the idle and LSN helped. Can I run 33% on this with the exhaust mods?

Just thought I'd post up a story. :D

Personally, I would add a head shim if I was running 33%.

Nice story too. Gotta love that the heavier truck will beat the maxx off the line.

^oh ok.. I won't bother with the 33% then, unless mods dictate a higher % of nitro.

I'll wait till he gets his tuned, or wait till the next time he has it out to run him again. I didn't realize how quiet his was. I fired mine up and it almost shook the floors.. :D :hehe: This thing just wants to GO! You can baby it, but it gets up and goes like its got nitrous hooked to it or something! :D

Oh, is there a way to slow the steering ratio? -Just spend more time behind the controller?

^ It's the predecessor to the 4.6 we have now, just a 2spd gearbox. Not too much like the 25 model. it's still a Nitro Star brand 4.1 engine.

Savage X 4.1 (mine... identical, just different body and diff wheels+tires) HPI Upgraded the power plant to the 4.6 in 2008 (?) and discontinued the 4.1 production.

Wait a minute.. The engine is the same?? .25 = 4.1cc... Is the Savage X with a 4.1cc the same as the Savage 25? Just a different model number and different frame setup? I was under the impression that the Savage 25 and the Savage X 4.1 were two different engine displacements... My truck is identical in almost every way to the Savage X 4.1 series. I'm just trying to find EXACTLY what I was sold and thought I had it nailed down..

HPI USA said:
LINKThe heart of the Savage 25 is the powerful new Nitro Star S-25 that has 20% more displacement than the previous model. It’s a .25 cubic inch (4.1cc) big block engine that features a billet aluminum heatsink head for extra cooling, dual bushing aluminum connecting rod, true ABC chrome sleeve construction for durability, and a simplified dual needle 7mm slide carburetor for easier tuning with a composite body for better performance at higher temperatures. The new S-25 is so powerful that we were able to gear the truck for higher top speeds, yet still retain excellent punch off the line. A high speed spur gear (49T) and larger clutchbell (15T) are now standard equipment, and we also include an 18 tooth clutchbell high speed on-road driving! Customers will immediately notice that the Savage 25 has more punch and higher top speed.

I'm surprised you beat tmaxx. I used to own both and my tmaxx was alot faster even that I had 28 in my savage. And tmaxx was 2.5. These are my favorite trucks. Now waiting for my new toys savage 4.6 and traxxas jato 3.3

^ I've got my eye on the Revo little buggy racing truck from Traxxas.. Awesome looking thing! :D

revo is almouet the same as tmaxx. Chassis is bit different and revo might be a little faster than tmaxx

^ They've got a BL motor out that does 62mph.. Not sure if it's HPI or Traxxas. Oh, I was referring to the ERevo, rather..

This one: just LOVE the way it looks!

Except for the completely different suspension and chassis. They're completely different animals, with the Revo being pretty far superior in handling and durability.

Did you ever own revo? Right now i'm waiting for Jato. But if I don't like it I'm going back to tmaxx or revo.
