hi guys i am thinking about buying a savage 25 it is brand new still in box for 300 buck are these good trucks and what upgrades do you recommend i should i get for it
 
Yes they are good trucks but that is a bit much for an outdated rig. The Savage X 4.6 RTR is $400 on Tower and with the super savers club discount even less and it has free shipping. That is where my money would go if it was me anyway. You get at least that much upgrades on the X 4.6 to make it worth it.
 
The 25 is actually a very good truck. I still have and run mine but as the others have said for the cost, the X is a better deal. For $200,I'd probably consider it.
 
Not only what was said above, but the X will be much easier to work on, with updated front and rear diff cases, and transmission case for easier access.
 
i offered the guy 200 and he took it so i think i got a good deal what kind of hop up should i get for it. i was thinking about getting a ribbed pipe for it but not sure if it will make that much of a change.
 
Ok for $200 and it being a new truck...that is not a bad deal then. I could deal with that for sure. It is still a good truck I loved mine and beat it to death. Ribbed pipe is ok just stupid loud. I never liked the way they sounded personally. It does give you a bit more low end torque.
 
You got a good deal IMO. For upgrades,first check to see if it's a later production unit with the 4 spider gear diffs. The early 25's only had 2 and were very prone to stripping them. If it's 2 gear - get the 4 gear setup and be ready to put them in soon. Second on my list would be a better steering servo and moving the stock to throttle and brake duty.

Also mandatory IMO is a fail safe unit.
