Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and new to the Nitro RC world. I'm sure this has been asked before but I am in need of a good reliable motor to replace the HPI .25 in my savage. My local hobby shop only directed me to HPI brand motors that are a bit much than I want to spend. I do not want anything crazy something that will fit with little to no other modifications, and be reliable for weekend bashing. Than

Not wise to put a cheap engine in a heavy truck. Stick with the stock 4.6 from HPI or go for the LRP .32.

Thanks, will anything else be need to swap either of those? I was given this truck for free, didn't really know what I was getting myself into!

rbest do some reseach to see what each mill will cost vs longevity and cost.

Rolex is bang on though with his recommendations and especially about cheap mills.

Replacing an engine should be a one time option and last at least 5 or more gallons when broken in properly and properly used.

Ok I've came across a new hpi f4.6 for $100 would this work ok for me? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Excellent price, new. Go for it. I also just noticed that I had a typo in my original post. I recommended a 5.6 instead of the 4.6.
I'll correct it now and give myself a time out.

Haha ok cool, do you know will the exhaust swap over from the 2.5. Also thanks for all the help I had no idea what I was getting myself into!

Not certain but I'm kinda' doubtful about the exhaust swap.
What you've gotten into is an incredible hobby. There's no end to what you can create if you really get involved. It's an addiction for many.
Other than that, I can't answer any more of your questions tonight. I'm still on that time out for the erroneous information. :D
