I have a Savage 25 that I got used. I just ported and polished the motor added a HPI tuned pipe and thats it. The guy that had it before me has a 18t clutch bell and a 52t spur. I dont think its that fast plus I never pull wheelies, even after I ported and polished it. Would that 18t/52t gearing be the problem. I want speed, but it would be fun to pull wheelies in demand also. This is my first time posting a question, so sorry if I'm all over the place.

The 18/52 is not wheely gearing. The factory .25 isn't a powerhouse anyway, but a 14T cb would help. The lower 1st gear in the 3spd trans should definately get you some wheelies and if you get the taller 3rd gear you can still have some speed too.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about going to the 14t cb or the 15t cb. Do u think I should also go back to the stock 49t spur. I was already thinking about getting the 3 speed trans, I'll also look into that taller 3rd gear, didnt know about that.

A 14T cb should help ya get it up in the air.you might be looking at changing some other driveline parts by going with the 3 speed tranny since the 25 came with a 2 speed. Also might consider a .28 or .32 engine to get you up there for wheelies and speed.I have a savage Xss with a racers edge 32 it will wheelie and give good top end and i run a 18T CB with a 47T spur its real nice.

Thanks Racer, will do. Silverbird I never heard of that racers edge 32, but I just looked it up and it looks like a beast. All the reviews on it are awsome, the only somewhat negative was that its a gas hog. (I dont care). I was looking to get a new engine and that one just got put in my top choices. The others I'm thinking of are the OS 30vg Picco 28 and the LRP z28rr, LRP 30.

The racers edge are few and far between now i lucked out and got one on ebay for 77 bucks, and it will empty the stack savy tank in like 12 minutes but what a fun 12 minutes. But the lrp's are real nice engines id go that way if you can.As for the OS well they always make a nice mill and picco is picco but I'm pretty sure the Lrp is more wallet friendly than the others.

Cool, I was kind of leaning towards the LRP 30 and 28rr, but when I seen the reviews on that racers edge 32 i was like I need that engine. It has 8 ports, that thing must screem. I even seen a guy on youtube get his to go 50mph (it was modded). I'll keep an eye out for a RE 32, but plan on getting the LRP if all else fails. Thanks for the info.

So I finally get my 15t vented bell. I make sure the mesh is right and I run it. It was quicker of the line but no wheelies. (not even close). I looked over the engine, took the air filter off to clean it and noticed the slide carb in the carb. At full throtle it looks like it is not fully open. I can still see a nice part of the slide. I havent adjusted my servo and the linkages have not been adjusted. Is that normal, or am I only running at 3/4 thotle?

Tried all weekend to adjust the links. Its not working at all. When I set it and I get full throtle, it dosent close all the way. Its stays halfway open. And when I set it so that it closes all the way I dont get full throtle. I think I may try switching the servos out. I have a high torque one on the reverse gear, maybe that will work. If not I'm switching to the ofna linkage. I wanted to hold off because I wanted to do the mid take mod and a few other mods later this winter. Oh well, we'll see.

Yes, its all the way turned up. I looked at it some more yesterday and noticed that the servo horn moved a little. It had free play, I think th horn may be bad. I went to the LHS and they dont sell just the horn. It comes with like 20 other things that I dont need. (ugh..HPI). One more reason to do the Ofna mod.

The NS-25 is low on power. Mine never wheelied either, even after it was modded. I strapped in a Sporwerks .26, wheelies on demand.
Sort out your linkage issue, clean out the CB and it may wheelie.
I know the stock linkage can be a pain but it works fine when adjusted properly.
:alarm:You need the updated servo saver spring.....I just remembered the Savage 25 came with a weak spring, HPI made a stronger version shortly after the release of the first .25 models.

I finally got my savy 25 running like a champ. I did a throtle mod that a friend at a LHS told me about. I used traxxax links and it works amazing, plus it was cheeper than the OFNA mod. As far as wheelies go, I tried my hand at a good porting and polishing job. I followed the info from the article in a RC mag to the T. Once I got it all together I ran it really rich to kind of re-break it in. As soon as I started to lean it out a lil, the front end was comming up. (I looked like a lil kid I was so damn happy). I didnt get a chance to fully tune it, so hopefully this week I will get it tuned right . No telling how fast it would be then.

Still grinning from ear to ear. Finally had a good day to get out and tune. The lil S-25 came to life. Still no wheelie's onroad, but its crazy close. On grass the front end comes up all the time. Wheelie bar here I come. It has good top end also. I'm running a 15cb/52spur, so I may play with that a lil also. For now its time to finally put the body on and go break something... Thanks again for all the help
