Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has/used the Savage 25 RTR and can compare to the Savage 21, SS or Picco .26 and give me some feedback, Because i might be getting one after my Picco .26 broke  ??

the rtr 25 has not been shipped to dealers yet.. give it 1-2 more months till they are on shelvs to be bought..

Hi,

OK thanks, release says on HPI website Early October so that could be in 8 days right? My problem is i have a toss up between the Savage .21 and the new Savage 25, i can get the .21 tommorow or wait till mid October (When it gets shiped to Australia) and get that? What u think?

I think they mean "Early October" as in "Early August". The Savage SS release date and the date it hit the stores was almost 2 full months apart. I think counting it down in number of days is only going to set you up for for disappointment. I think we'll be lucky to see a 25 RTR before turky day.

Depends on if you want it now or later. If you get the .21 you will have it now but you will end up having to throw some extra cash at it down the road to replace the flaws in the .21. If you wait until later you can get the .25 with the improvments of the .21 flaws.

HPI must be a subsidiary of Microsoft. The SS was slated for delivery in mid August, then early September, then late Sept, now it's in October? Geeze, they should name it the Savage XP.

Improved flaws? Sounds like microsoft, again.....

Something tells me you are anti-MS?

Yeah flaws. What would you call them? Perhaps weak points sounds better.

MCP Win 2000. I just get irritated at crappy code that's perpetuated through each evolution (oops, I meant facelift) of "new" operating systems. Not to mention the practice of beta testing crap on paying customers, and God forbid you have a problem with an MS product and it's OEM, Redmond won't even give you the time of day if it is.

Design flaws is the term I was thinking about. I can see having a problem with (just for instance) the rims. I can also see a replacement for the rims in the first evolution of the Savage. I should see a second version of the rims with fixes to the flaws, but I don't. Not we have the second evolution of the Savage, but with the same friggin rims that have the flaws. I do see a problem. Knowing what I know now, but without having the Savage I have, and if I were to get an SS (which I probably would given the aforementioned parameters), I would immediately buy a good set of rims and (thus) pay about $20 more just to be free of those stinking, suckass, weak, lame, crappy friggin rims.

the SS has been out.. it came out sooner than expected.. the RTR 25 is whats being spoken about and i feel its being pushed back further and further.. not sooner..

Hi,

What flaws does .21 have? ALso what happens if rotostart breaks in .25 then u can't start car? Or do they have back up?

A quick trip through the Archive section will answer all your questions regarding the 21 RTR. Just do a search on "savage, dogbone", "Savage, rims", "Savage, shocks", "Savage, rotostart (or roto start)".

Don't get me wrong, I love my Savage. It's just about bullet proof, but not 100% stock anymore. The best feature of it is the guts of the tranny. In one word "solid". I'm running a picco 26 and the steel gears are near mint condition. The TVP design is revolutionary and very strong. Overall, it's an outstanding design, but due to some weak points (as all things have) it can be frustrating at times.

Hi,

I've dececied, that i will buy the .21 have some fun with it, and when the 25 finnaly comes to Oz in i say 3 months (Christmas) I'll reavaulate the situation and see how much i enjoyed the Savage and if everythings goes a OK ill buy the 25. The reason i am buying the .21 one is that my Picco .26 is BADLY DAMAGED :argue: and i REALLy want to get some fun while i still can, and i can't wait 3-5 months for the 25, so ill get the .21 then the 25, what u guys think?
