Does anyone know if we can start the enging exchange with HPI yet for the .25?

Thats BS!!!!! You can buy a Hyper21 8 port for 150$ or cheaper.Save your 99$,sell the 21bb on ebay and get the 8port.

How about you chill out Mr. BS

You can't sell a trashed 21bb on ebay. and even if you can you will get about 70-100 on E-bay if the engine is brand new. The HPI exchange is great. You can take old all most dead engines and get a new better engine for $99. thats one hell of a good deal!

Yeah, go read the instructions on HPI before ya start bashing.

For all those that are too lazy to check it out yourself, here's a quote from HPI about the exchange:

You can send in your working or non-working HPI engine along with your payment and take advantage of this engine exchange program. If you send in an HPI engine, you can choose any one of the engines below. The 21BB exchange is available only if you send in a 21BB engine.

The engine that you send in does not have to run and may be disassembled.
Damaged parts are acceptable (broken head fins, broken pullstarter, broken con rod, etc.).
It should be as complete as possible (no missing con rod, pullstarter, carb, head, etc.)
Remove any mounts, flywheel/clutch, exhaust and air filter before mailing the engine to us.
California residents must add 7.75% state sales tax to the total.

The engine that you receive will be BRAND NEW. We will not send you a rebuilt or remanufactured engine.

This means that as long as all the above stated parts are there (broken, busted, used, new) they will still exchange it for a NEW engine (21BB OR 25) for $100. Has clarity and understanding come to thee? Can you find a new HPI 25 (which BTW is the same as an Ofna Force 25) for $100? I don't think so.

You can sell anything on Ebay. All you need to do is sell it for at least 30-40 bucks and you with the 99$+S/H you save from the engine exchange you can get a better engine.I don't think engine exchange programs are any good. Why buy a Kit engine when you can get a better one with more power and higher RPM's for the same price? You could even buy the Force25 for 130$$ and keep your 21bb since it's basicaly the same engine anyways.Stormer Hobbies sells the Hyper21 8 port for 140 brand new.My point is save up a few extra bucks and get the better deal. Why have 1 engine when you can have 2 for almost the same price?

I'm not bashing HPI in anyway.I think all engine exchange programs are crappy. You've already paid how much for the RTR engine and they want you to give it to them just so they can clean it up fix it and re sell it for 150$.Traxxas has this same kind of "deal" going on with the Trx2.5 and the pro15.you send them 100$ and your working pro 15 and they sell you a Trx2.5 but for 30$ more you can just buy the Trx2.5 and keep the pro 15.

I can see your point Rex, and I did get a Hyper 21 8P from Extreme RC for about 140, and a Picco 26 for a bit more than that (the first is in a buggy, the second is in my savage), but I also have a cooked, barely functional ragged 21BB that isn't doing anything other than holding down some papers on my desk. But for half the price of a Picco 26, I could have a decent brand new spare engine if (stress on the IF part) I ever tank my Picco or the hyper. Right now, the spare is a cooked POS. We're not talking about getting a new Savage and immediately trading the new 21BB in for a 25. That would be stupid. Trading in a good reliable working 21BB in good condition would be idiotic at best and I would agree totally with your reasoning.

My 21BB has been sitting here doing nothing since my 8port got here also but it only has like 1 gallon threw it and it still runs great.I'm going to put it on for the winter this year.I can see if the piston/sleeve were bad and I needed to replace it i'd rather spend the 99$ for a NEW engine than 60 bucks for a piston/sleeve but if I were just looking for an upgrade I'd go for something else like the Pico or the 8port.

I think this is a little off subject here... but i didnt know what to write it under. I have the savage ss with the .25 and my one way bearing broke... it is in two peices.... can i use the same one that for the .21 or not... I will call hpi to see if they will replace it cause the lhs said that it wasn't my fault.... but i want to play with it in the mean time so would the one way for the .21 work the the .25.
Thanks
Doug

Doug, It wouldn't hurt to try. If the 21BB 1 way will fit on the crank shaft of the 25, it should work. I've heard that the roto start will fit on the 25, so there's a good chance that the 1 way will fit the 25. If it don't fit, it won't work. The 1 way is just a camming roller bearing.

Just for all your info the one bearing in the 21BB is the same oneway used in the TRX15pro. I known this cause my oneway went tits up on my 21bb. So I figure I would look through my RC junk pile and there it was a oneway bearing and it was from my old 15pro. So I looked at it comparing them, looked at the numbers on the end and they were the same bearing. So I installed it and worked like a charm. But I now have a Hyper21 so the 21bb has been put to rest( ) in the RC Junk Pile for now.

Thanks guys sounds like i might be back up and running to night i will post more when i get back from school... Thanks
Doug

ok i will add my .02 cents about the 25... i might be the only one out there but i have had so many problems with it...firt the one way ball thing... now the back plate came loose and the little pin came out and tore every thing up.... i am going to see if hpi will replace it.... i am starting to wish i spent my money on something else
