Have you done the 4 spider gear mod~? Might help tighten things up in your diff. Good luck.

That's the diff input shaft. Odd, this is the first I've heard about these going out. Granted, they will wear out, but are you blowing your's pretty quick?

Try www.extremercmotorsports.com

If you have a part number they should be able to help.

I've done the spider mod. HPI bevels on Kyosho shafts. This is the first one I've had to replace but I know at least 5-6 co-workers and friends that are all waiting for these parts to become available at our LHS.

A similar bevel is available from Kyosho but it does not have a drilled hole for the set screw. A friend of mine drilled a Kyosho MP5 bevel and has had good results so far, but unless you have a bench drill and carbide tips you will not get a good clean drilled hole.

Hmm. Have yall tried contacting HPI? If the trucks are "stock" you might be able to get waranty replacements.

Are the teeth getting chewed off or what? I mean what's the failure with them?

What happens is that the teeth literally chip off the bevel. Out of 13 bevels I had 5 completly chipped off.

I ran it for a tank of gas with a funny noise when I applied the brakes. Upon inspection I noticed the broken bevel.

Something is definetly wrong, I mean if everyone has them backordered it appears there is a high demand for this part.

Haven't tried contacting HPI yet.

BTW who has "stock" Savages? lol

(Tons of hopups & mods on mine)

My rear diff completely grenaded on only the tenth tank, and the first 6 were break in tanks. The teeth were ripped off both bevel gears, the pins twisted completely inside the cup, ripping the inside of the cup apart, and the bearing was in pieces. I don't feel that this should be happening to brand new trucks, especially with the stock engine. I tried calling HPI customer support, only to be lefty on hold for 50 min before being disconnected. I called back, used the leave a message option and they will get back to me. BULLSHIT! They never did, I don't have the time or want to call them on their non-800 number again, pay another long distance call to sit on hold God knows how long, for their crappy customer service. I am so pissed at HPI customer service right now! So I too am still waiting on parts to rebuild my diff. I must say, Traxxas' customer support blows away HPI, I am really quite disgusted with HPI right now.

Know what ya mean. but if ya do contact HPI, I wouldn't mention any engine or brake upgrades that aren't HPI. Just to be safe.
