I want to run my s-maxx at the local track, and i was wondering what suspention setup should i use (springs, oil, dampers, ect...) but i do want to use the stock traxxas shocks. and also, when i put on my rpm rear a arms, they where pretty tight on the bulks, and it is hampering my suspension travel, and i have to use super stiff springs on the back and that makes my truck go end over and when i turn. how can i fix this??? i want to know ur suspention setup... this is getting annoying...

Reply fast plz.
Thanx

Are your hinge pins straight? roll hem on a flat surface to check for wobble.

Have you tried saturating the pins and holes with oil?

If the pins are straight and oil does not help, you might want to try titanium pins with c-clips instead of the stock threaded pins.

You can also remove the a-arms and run a little sand paper over the face of the joints. The area where the pins travel through. If you shave off just a bit, you will find the fit not so tight and your travel a little smoother.

If your pins are bent, invest in some new ones. I recommend some titanium pins.

What adjustment hole do you have your shocks in? Try kickin your bottom one out a spot or 2, more stable but less travel, it will also sit lower.

thanx all bout the hinge pins, but what about the suspension setup? i am looking for springs and oil, and stuff like that. whats yalls preferance on like a racing setup for a high traction surface?

Here is a link to a setup sheet...

T-Maxx Setup Sheet

I use the #3 position on the tower and # 2 on the a-arms, remove all front spring spacers and keep only one spacer on the two shocks on the far back.

This usually works good for me on high traction dirt tracks.

in a RC Car Action magazine they were running a sportmax with 4 shocks.. i think the Big Bores, 80 WT shock oil, and 1/8th scale white buggy springs. i think the bottom shock was in the 2nd hole from the outside.

later

Front Shock Setup-
Damper: TRAXXAS Big Bore
Piston: 2 hole
Oil: Team Associated 80WT
Spring: OFNA 1/8 scale buggy front white(firm)
Travel limit: no limiters
Length: 110mm (top of cap to bottom of rod end)
Location: Upper: A(middle); Lower: number 3 (3rd from inside)

Rear Shock Setup
Damper: TRAXXAS Big Bore
Piston: 2 hole
Oil: Team Associated 80WT
Spring: OFNA 1/8 scale buggy front white(firm)
Travel limit: no limiters
Length: 110mm (top of cap to bottom of rod end)
Location: Upper: A(middle); Lower: number 3 (3rd from inside)

He is only running 4 shocks, on the outside corners of the sportmaxx.

hope this helps,
