Hi I have the S-maxx 3.3 and it absolutely WILL NOT start.

It has worked fine since December 22nd. Today I put the ez starter on the connector, push the button and it sits and sputters but won't roll over.

I've tried tuning richer, leaner, tried a different battery and looked for fuel leaks. Not sure but it looks like the clutch shoes are worn out. Would that be the problem?

did you try a new plug ?? sometimes they light up but are no good ...and when my clutch broke , the truck would want to creep forward when i tried to start it with my ez-start ..put it on blocks and try to start it ...if your wheels turn , the clutch might be broken

hope that helps

It doesn't creep but it lunges when it's trying to start.

Would that be the clutch?
Also I don't have any more glow plugs, so I can't try that...
If I can't figure out the problem, I'll take it to hobbytown this weekend...

P.S. Just got done spending over $100 on replacement parts and new tires and rims.

well if it lunges , I'm pretty sure its your clutch...the truck is not supposed to move at all when you try to start it .......also , another sign , is if you roll the truck and the engine turns with it ..when mine broke , i was able to start it when it was off the ground ...but would stall as soon as i put the brakes

always have spare plugs ..you never know when they will give on you ... and if you need a new clutch , you should upgrade it ,...i got a brand new aluminum 3 shoe one for 15$ shipped to my mail box ..only took a week to

Always keep in mind too that once your engine is tuned, it only takes minimal turning of the needles to keep it there(usually none on the lsn). People are fast to crank on the needles as soon as the truck won't start. 99.9% of the time, the needle settings will have nothing to do with it. You only end up with an out of tune engine on top of the problem that's causing it not to start. I'd have to agree that it's a clutch problem. The spring or a shoe probably broke.

I took it out on our deck rail this morning and it started fine with the wheels of the deck.

It must be the clutch shoes.
The totally worn off.:(

What would be good ones to get at hobbytown thats good, reliable ones?:\
