i was thinking reverse would be nice. i found a bunch of these reverse transmissions on ebay for the tmaxx revo. they dont sell for much. to make my s maxx have revere is this what i would need. as well as another servo to put it into and out of reverse. look at the pic in the ad. it looks like it has a wire that goes directly to the servo contol box. so would i need another servo or does this connet directly to the control box in the 3rd channel spot.

thanks

The tmaxx and revo are two different trucks. You would want one that fits the tmaxx, since it's the same chassis. Reverse is nice for bashing but takes away from speed and acceleration. It can be done, I put one in mine a couple years ago. The wire you are talking about goes to the opti-drive module. It's more or less a sensor that wont allow you to change direction of the transmission while in motion. Most here dont care for em' but mine is holding up okay. It's possible that you may have to change out driveshafts, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I do recall having to play with spur gear and clutch bell sizes to get em' to mesh.

The link you posted is for a revo transmission. this is what you're after

Thanks SCN, the ebay ad you referenced says its forward only. I am looking for more of a trans with reverse.
I didnt know the revo and tmaxx are different thus posting here so thanks for the info.

you should be able to buy the gears you need for that, and re-use the tranny case, i have two trannys, both are the same thing, except one is two speed with reverse, and the other one speed no reverse, and they are the same out side of whats inside, as long as the case has the hole's for 1: the shifter for reverse 2: the hole that bolts in the small gear you will need, these two holes should be right beside each other, if the casing is set up right, then you can get the gears to go it, need primary drive gear, primary drive first and or second gear, the small metal gear, shafts, drums, if you need help, i can show you all the parts you need, well give you the parts numbers....
