hi, am just curious on how to remove the sleeve of the s-25 engine? it's my first. i can just slide it out about 1mm. is there any technique on how to do this. thnx. :)

y r u trying to remove the sleeve? :hammer: take the head off, and take the pull start and back plate off, use a soft (no sharp!) object to push the sleeve up from the crankcase housing, then use pliers and a soft towel to pinch the sleeve and pull it up, be aware when you put it back in that there is a set key on the inside of the sleeve housing in the crankcase where the slot on the sleeve has to match up or else your timing will be off. if it wont budge, you can put your motor in the freezer for a bit to loosen it up some.

Freezer? :wtf: Good Lord man! Don't tell him that.

Gta, why ARE you taking this apart? Do you have a new sleeve, piston and conrod assembly you're installing? Always replace those components together. Somehow I don't think you're porting the engine. Everything devildog said is accurate except for the freezer part.

Heat... will make the sleeve easier to remove. Bake the engine in a 250º oven for about 10 minutes. Make sure the piston is at bottom dead center. You can slip the end of a zip tie or two into the exhaust port over the top of the piston. Turning the flywheel will push the piston into the zip ties which will in turn exert pressure on the sleeve to push it out.

Here's a good article from our good buddy Kevin Hetmanski on nitro engine rebuilds:

i just want to take off the glitter like aluminum inside the engine. i don't know where it came from. :( now i successfully put my engine back together. i hope that it would run.. lol/.... thak you very much :)

Glitter? Metal flakes in the crankcase are bad, mmmkay? That's usually indicative of a serious mechanical failure and those metal flakes are usually pieces of your piston or connecting rod.

How did your engine pieces look?

ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mmmkay Mr. Mackey LOLOLOL!!!!! South Park rocks!

the fine aluminium glitter like particles are from the cylinder head gasket. i don't have any idea how it happend. :nono: there are three right? i removed one. and run the engine for about three tanks before i broke the one wway bearing and had to open up the engine for curiosity. and i discovered the metal flakes. tiny tiny tiny. :puke:

Cylinder head gaskets are typically copper. And three gaskets sounds like a bit much.

So you got the sleeve out? And you flushed all the metal flakes out? Have you reassembled it and started it again?

Flakes are bad yo, TIMMAAYY! That freezer trick I told you actually worked for me on my 21 Savage a year ago, wouldn't come out till I cooled the motor for about 20 mikes. Just giving some advice. Good luck w/ your motor man. BEEFCAKE!!!:flaming:

yup, i have assembled it already. the 3 gaskets are made of aluminum and it came with the savage 25 rtr that i got. sadly my problem now is the starting pin with pressure spring that is located at the end of the crankshaft. i lost it in the sink:( now i'm still finding where i can get it quick. :((
