I have a rustler bl-2s 2 wheel drive that I didn't like all that much. It's good for wheelies, but not so good otherwise. I took it all apart and thought about making something else out of the parts.
I came across the Chuckworks site and the rusty3 looked interesting to me. Has anyone had any experience with his chassis?

I think it is the same wheelbase as a rustler, but I'm not sure. His website doesn't have a lot of detail.
I sent him an inquiry a few days ago, but haven't gotten a reply yet.
Maybe this is a dead end?
I'm going to try making a frame - turning the drive around and stretching the wheelbase a lot - maybe to 400mm. Much narrower too.
I will first make a mock up out of hardboard - any final one would be aluminum plate milled out to fit.

Fast lane machines made a clunky frame. There are generic stretch chassis. The design does allow for score and snap and custom extension. I've done it for shortening buggies. Just add filler plates and make it longer. Maybe someone knows a place that still makes racing rustler stuff

I was thinking of not just extending it, but turning the drive around to make it mid motored. Also much narrower in the center.
I guess it would need some sort of home made body, like an old time indy car type.
I didn't like the car the way is was, so I can't do much damage no matter how it turns out.

The generic tamiya sand scorcher body can be modified to fit. There are some front heavy bodies. The other thing that helps is just go higher pinion. Change the torque curve. They do have the wheelie bar. I like jumping them so slightly stiffer shocks in the back. They can jump really high and far once you get good at air control
