Very fast with a 3s, great with a 2s. Good fun and reasonably strong, and of course easy to get parts for too.
The VXL speedie is a high amp esc that is very easy to use and easy handles a 3s lipo, unlike many high end esc's.
I will suggest you buy a fan for the speedie though.

It's a nice setup, the truck is built well to handle the extra power, has a beefed up drivetrain and things like that. The Valineon system is quite powerful and seems to be very durable from what I've heard.

Its nice, but you could do a BL slash for around the same price.

Yeah it really depends on what you're looking for. Personally I prefer the scale looks and handling of the slash, but some people might want more of a stadium truck. Just do your research and decide then buy, because it sucks to buy something and then decide it's not really what you wanted.
Also, the Stampede makes a really nice little basher. It's similar to the Rustler and Slash, but it's a monster truck.

Well non VXL, i have owned rustler (didnt like) Stampede (OK) and now slash, (YAY) and i must say that it is the most fun i have had in a long time with an rc. It reminded me of the first day i drove my crawler on rocks, and played with the 5b. Its just so entertaining to watch.
