hello I'm new to this site i have a traxxas rustler vxl that has 4200mah 7 cell 8.4v and it has been geared for high speed. it goes about 55mph.. not good enough for me... i have just baught another vxl chassis and i wanna no what parts would make it faster.. i no nothing about brushless... just no that i love it and hooked i wanna run like 70mph i would need to no battery, esc, and motor. any ideas will be helpful. also if you have anything i need please please let me no......... thanks

If you want to make the VXL do 70, it is going to cost you.

First you need to install the high speed gear set, then you need to get 3S lipo battery pack with battery tray expansion kit.

The Velineon brushless setup on the VXL is fine.

What lipo do you recomend? remember I'm new and really don't even no what lipo means. HOPEFULLY ill learn that on here LOL...

The higher the mah, the longer the run time. So pick something out that's 3S, 11.1 volts, and get the highest mah that you can afford.

This is a good compromise because you will get decent runtime, yet it's not to terribly expensive.

I order every battery pack I buy from maxamps.com. I have about 8 of their batteries, and I will have 8 more by the end of the summer I'm sure. You couldn't ask for better people to deal with or better customer service.

The rustler that I am hoping up has no motor no esc is there anything better than the stock system? I am going to buy the lipo you chose for my 55 mph rustler see what that does. But this new chassie I got i really want it to scream cost is not really impotant couse I just sold almost my intire collection of nitro powered cars and trucks. once i drove this thing doing 55 with electric and all that time i spent in gas knucle breaking crap. so help me out guys and gals what mods can I do

If you still have the VXL booklet then read that. If not then you need;
1x Velineon system, 31Tpinion gear/76 tooth spur, 1x 3s 8000mah battery. I ESC/battery holder lift kit so it fits in the chassis, 1x Traxxas cooling fan for the speedie.
Be sure to cut the front window out and cut a hole in the back window above the speedie for good airflow.
The Velineon system will easily power it past 70mph. But watch the temps.....
Oh and I almost forgot. You'll need to pull shock stiffener clips out of the back, use the smallest one you can in the front, make sure the nose is level or lower, and put small weights in the nose. It WILL stand up when you apply full throttle, even if you're already doing 50.
Dont forget when you buy your Lipo to make sure your charger is Lipo compatible....... Also DO order you batteries from Maxamps, and use their plug service, where for $2.50 they will fit the connector of your choice.... (DEANS)

where can I buy all this stuff. can I make it faster? Like I said I want this thing to fly money is not a problem. Does anyone have anything I might need please LMK

Everything I said is available at A Main, except the battery which as mentioned, MaxAmps. I have a 34 tooth pinion on mine and timed between set markers it is just short of 90mph.
Sounds good but its one or two runs only before heat becomes your enemy, and any faster than that and airflow is the killer. If you want to go faster than that you will need a roadcar platform, spektrum Tx/Rx, a brushless motor of say 10000-10500rpv (3.5T) and a high amp speedie, maybe 10guage wires and 6.5mm connectors just to start.
The Rustler, although I love mine, wont do what it sounds like you want it too..

brushlessboy what set up are you useing to get 90 mph? also where do I buy all this stuff I dont understand what you meant by main. Thanks

A Main. Its probably the biggest online RC store in the world.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/
Mine runs the Velenion stystem, with heatsink on the motor, Traxxas cooling fan on the ESC, I run a 34 tooth pinion, 76 tooth spur gear, tyres from a Stampede, (only cause I turned the stock ones into slicks) 4.8 as opposed to the standard 4.3. Like I said I took all the shock spacers from the rear, and just put the thin ones in the front to soften the suspension. I also put the larger wheelie bar wheels on it. (red centre)
The last two changes were made in an effort to keep the front wheels on the ground.
I dont know why but the Traxxas TX never seem to have the range of some others and to get that speed you need distance. Walking to the end of the range will still see you, at half throttle, panic and open her right up. The result is a wheelie at 50 mph, and then your run is over. Trust me....
This is also done with the 3s 8000Mah Lipo. Like I said its one or 2 passes only because its a lot of load on the motor and speedie and generates a lot oh heat. But re gearing it for some good bashing fun is a 2 minute job, so its all good....
