Rush is a great band but I would have to say that Tommy Lee is the best drummer of all times. Motley was the sh!t and will always be the sh!t.

I remember them, good old rock'n roll. You are dating yourself with this thread.

Your kiddin right ?? Tommy's known for hittin the skins, & I'm not talking about his drums...... lol

Tommy Lee and Neil Pret arent the same at all though

Neil pret, buddy rich, tommy lee, ringo (why does everyone think he blows)....there all awesome....wanna meet them...wanna take lessons..not gonna happen...but there all awesome

BUT RUSH there awesome...its like..the eagles or Zeppelin
what do ya mean I'm dating my self ther strechm

and ian piace

Bah!

Best drummer hands down is Mike Portnoy.

Tommy Lee? While I will not say he sucks (because I fee that his style of drumming is kick-ass), he is not and never will be considered "Best" on drums.

And it is Neil PEaRT not Pret. :)
^:shhh:^

Ok well he is still awesome....ian paice is really good.....except all these people are either old, fat, or dead.....grr...i guess ill have to be the next great drummer

sorry for the spelling.....

Actually, it's Neil Peart....

And he is one of the best. Hands down. Sorry to all you kids. But these metal drummers don't have the same chops. Lars Ullrich? Nope. Tommy Lee? Nope. Look at guys like John Bonham. Have you heard "Bonzo's Montreux"? Hell, now I'm making myself look old. Hell, I'd even give Phil Collins more props than some of these other guys. But Neil Peart is just insane. I played in a band in college and we did a few Rush tunes. We did "Subdivisions", "Tom Sawyer", and "Xanadu". None of which was easy to pull off. Luckily we had a drummer with some skills.

hey i had one metal drummer....everyone else was the good stuff...before there were those chitty drum machine crap (damn cheaters)...I'm not great..someday i will be....i had a god given talent, my mom is a drummer and my dad plays bass....i took up drum...when my mom doesn't wanna play a gig i do...when my drum teacher is double booked i play....its sweet to have connections..and i get to play in a recording this year and if all goes right i will get to work there this summer (i need a job for all this rc chit)

Back to RUSH...tour is on hold....one of their peoples (not drummer) is in jail for drunken violence of something like that...THEY BETTER FREAKIN GO ON TOUR....anyway long live neil Peart, pert, pret and ian paice....best ever...

btw...i meant recording studio....not recording...and I'm not bragging or anything....just thought id let ya know..and if anyone plays bass in alabam...HA LIKE ANYONE ELSE LIVES IN ALABAMA...tell me..

that is a cool song...i wish people at my school would get that classic rock is real music and rap isnt.....gosh there so dumb.....grr......anyway...what about the all time best guitar player....Jimmy page? thats all i got...ideas?

Careful, asking who's the greatest guitar player is really going to open a can of worms.

I'll simply state my opinion. I have give give a lot of props to Eddie Van Halen. Sorry, but he truly inspired a generation of musicians. But he's more my time. Before that you have to really give a lot of props to the man. Jimi Hendrix. He had an unnatural ability to coax sound out of a guitar. Unlike anyone. But now the list can grow. Steve Vai. Steve Howe. Pete Townsend. Joe Satriani. Stevie Ray Vaughn. Clapton. Carlos Santana.

Hell, I just cheated a bit and pulled up a list on another site. So many great names. Paul Gilbert. Jeff Beck. Yngwie Malmsteen. Someone even nominated Nuno Bettencourt. There's a name I haven't heard in a long time!

OH! And Randy Rhodes. Who doesn't just think the solo in "Crazy Train" is the poop?

I am so glad that you said Randy Rhodes. Randy is the man and yes, Eddie is damn good to.

Those are all greats Candyman, but "best" is always debatable. You can't compare across eras. But Favorite is easy. Mine are David Gilmore of Pink floyd and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. They aren't pyrotechnic wizards, but they are amazingly "tasteful". Listen to OLD floyd, like Meddle and Obscured by Clouds. The detail and innovation is amazing.

hey have you heard the thing were if you play wizard of oz to "the wall" that everything fits perfectly..is that true

PETER FRAMPTON...i have got to see him CRAZYNESS
crazy train is the poop but it doesn't impress me that much because i know people that can play it (1 that can play it up to speed) but yeah anyway....Hendrix is awesome ...but comeone..that was the a natural phenonum (can't spell, I'm 15) that will never happen again...all those guys did influence everyone today..

I dont TOTALY know what I'm talking about since i was not alive for all the greatness...all i have are stories from my dad, a pinkfloyd wanna be band, and records....

And that's why I said it's opening a can of worms. I played guitar a lot when I was younger. And really listened to a lot of guitar music. So there are just tons of names that could be brought up. No doubt missing some. Hell, I was just thinking about some of the CD's I have. What about Eric Johnson? Joe Walsh? Or totally shifting gears with guys like BB King? Or going even further with Paco DeLucia or Andres Segovia? Hell, just look at blues and jazz and there will just be a truckload of names that can be added to the list...

I saw Al De Miola, Paco Deluca and John Mcloughlin (sp?) together in an accoustic performance that was stunning.

Peter Frampton and Eric Clapton pioneered the guitar/singing thingy...yeah know

do you feel like i do...dododuidns
well listen to the cd, its awesome

pink floyd is some crazy awesome music
black sabboth....

BOSTON---dude who doesn't love the awesome guitar and the guy with the awesome rage, who can obivousily make his balls dissappear at any given moment.....
but hey seems like in the 60,70, and 80s everyone could do that

Help me out old guys, what was it...the tight pants or what?

haha just messing with everyone who is "old" haha
