well i just got my revo running originaly 2.5 has a 3.3 now . It runs great but after about 5-8 min. it starts to bog at low speed .and finaly stalled out i think to hot on lsn ,so i think it needs to be richer.litttle or no smoke at slow speed but when you give it gas it smokes ok.:banana-mario:

You will need a temp gun! Do you have the traxxas 2 stage air filter? If not, get it or your engine will be starved fro air. Check for air leaks. What is the size of your idle gap, should be between .07-1.0mm or credit card size. You say it bog at low speed then dies. I think you may be running to rich. When you tune ur revo, start with factory setting which is HSN: 4 turns out LSN: 1 3/4 turns out and idle is mentioned above. Begin leaning your hsn till no improvement in performance (listen how quick 2nd gear kicks in and always have a light stream of blue smoke com'n out) then richin 1/8 turn. Same for ur lsn. To check ur lsn, pinch ur fuel line near the carb, if ur idle speeds up and dies within 2-3 seconds then you have a proper air/fuel mixture. If it dies very quick then it is too lean, richen 1/8 turn. If it takes longer then 3-4 sec. to die then it is too rich, lean out 1/8 turn.Once you set ur idle u shouldnt need to change it unless it wont start. If tune properly you should be popp'n wheelies.

i have a temp gun cheapy but it works didn't have it with me .was just running it to see if it would run .like i said little or no somke unless u punch it . and it does wheely before it gets to hot and starts to bog . no on the 2 stage filter .never heard of it is that the one that comes on the platnium? idal is ok (had to ruin a perfectly good credit card to check it though)lol not realy don't have one . but ya it's very close to 1mm .if i were running rich would i see a lot more smoke ? rich= smoke lean = less smoke.but i agree on the air filter i have a bunch of others i need to check and see if any will work. i'm going through all my cars and truck and seeing what i want to keep and what i want to get ride of . because i have to move . f_______ landlord sold the house out from under us now i have 30 days to find a new place for wife kids ,dogs ,ferretts and lizzards oh ya birds to .

My revo 3.3 came witha 2 stage air filter. essentially, it is a larger air filter with 2 air filters. It is designed for the 3.3 and sucks in a large volume of air! Traxxas recommends setting your idle gap more towards the .07mm. I used a zip tie which is 1.0mm thick to check my gap. If ur gap is too large ur engine will run hotter so try to adjust ur idle so that ur revo idle smoothly without stalling. Also, when was the last time u put in a new glow plug? If your glow plug is gunked up it may cause detonation which will adversly effect ur timing and overheat. I use Traxxas super duty (long-medium) which is what traxxas recommends. Put in a new plug, run 1 tank of fuel thru ur reve then take out ur plug and inspect it. if ur plug is a dark-grey color with no sign of lubrication on it then u are running too lean. If ur plug has a brown- light gray color with signs of lubrication on it then ur fine. Do you neglect cleaning ur engine and air filter? What kind of fuel do u use? Do u preform after run maintinence?

brand new plug ,have several air filters so keeping a clean one is not a problem.fuel:30 %
o'donnels.i will check the gap and try the zip tie .Engine has about 3/4 gallon through it.
Don't run my trucks to often .just trying to get as many of them running as i can so i can see what i want to keep and sell the rest or mabe trade . 3 maxxs revo team associated truck ,xtm mamouth, hpi rs4 and few others . not to mention the electric ones about 8

Any of ur maxxs run strong and in good condition that u wanna sell?

Allow me to correct myself. when i talk about idle gap size, i mean 0.7-1.0mm. the decimal makes a big diff.

IDK about 30% fuel, I go with 20% top fuel. Its only for bashin so i dont need the xtra power and headaches. u will run hotter with 30%. but if u broke in ur engine with 30% than u shouldn't change , unless u know how to wean urself off the 30% gradually. kinda like kick n a bad habit.

Haven't thought about selling them .only one has a mototr on it ,trying to see if it runs .i got it to start but won't idel . one has the foc. and different springs the wide max conversion makes it an inch wider more stable . and the throtle linkage has been converted for a 2.5 0r 3.3. Oh it also has revo center shafts and the shafts going to the wheels , and one is in peices .
