So the other night I gave the gf and her younger sister a good laugh...

I pulled out my only running maxx right now and was running it around the lot across the street and jumping off of my home made ramp when i brought it up to me to turn it off it decided to run WFO straight for our neighbors (who is very anti-social and won't waive or talk to anyone) front door...so my only reaction was to take off running after it...which about 10 ft from his door I caught up to it and it stopped and as i took a sigh of relief it took off again but i was in front of it and was able to pick it up and kill the engine...

What gets me is I a failsafe that works beautifully (i test it prior to every run by killing the Tx)

The only thing that I can think of is that there was some sort of radio interference that caused it to flip a poop on me...I live in the middle of the desert and they're weren't any other RCs around so I can only thing it had to be some sort of interference but I'd be interested to hear any other suggestions...b/c I don't want this thing taking off across the desert.

The failsafe will work if the receiver loses signal, however if you lose power to the truck, i.e. dead battery, or loose battery connection the failsafe won't help. That's when you also want to have a throttle return spring. If there is not enough battery power left, or the connection is lost from the receiver to the battery, there is no way for the fs to apply power to the brake servo rendering it useless.

it was aliens.. isn't roswell in the desert?

seriously though. it could be a low battery or a servo going out. could even be the rx. what radio system are you running?

lol yeah i had to chase mine once for a very long ways, it shifted and just kept going but finally it hit a rock and came back towards me so was able to catch it, one of the AA's was just loose enuff to not get a connection.

same thing happened to me, thats y i run 2.4ghz radio, with low voltage protector on all my nitro rigs.

HA my maxx ran away one time, well tried to then it hit a fence post at WOT. lets just say that i got a failsafe and a throttle return spring now and wouldnt drive my truck without them.

running the standard Traxxas radio and receiver

I have a return spring...it could be the batteries getting low or a loose/short somewhere i'll check that out...

There are abuncha nuts here and think they'res alien grounds up in Tehachapi where I work so yea i'll blame it on the aliens

are they're failsafes that will sense a low voltage and trip until the voltage is back above a certain range? i'm guessing they're are but not worth the $ to put on an RC like this

Thanks for the inputs

Yeah that's what I thought too....I have a Futaba FASST system in most of mine. I just had to send a receiver in for service because of a few runaways. The first I thought was transmitter batteries low. The second time......who knows right? Third....was almost catastrophe. Waiting on my new one to come back in the mail. It always happens at the wrong time too. At least no one got hurt.:surrender

some what of the same thing i had my cover off my tmaxx and did not notice that i was stepping on the antenna and gave my tmaxx some gas ripped of my antenna due to stepping on it and there it went had no control of it. good times, good laugh, & great exercise running after it.
