I searched the forums for old posts, but couldn't find anything on this! When installing the head on my Maxx 2.5, I just tightened it on really well - is there a gasket or should I use RTV? I just had to pull the motor again, so I figured I'd ask, since it's much easier to do with the mill OUT of the rig.

Thanks! :)

i've never heard of using ATV on the head. It should have a head shim,,,,,
But you should test for air leaks and see if you have an issue. Start the mil and get some very soapy water, then use a small paint brush and brush the suds on the problem areas.
Also, don't over-tighten your head

Thanks! OK, going out to reinstall and fire it up. I found a small crack in the tank, and "cold welded" it up, nothing seems to leak lmao! We'll see... ugh.

:)

the head should have at least one copper seal, called a shim. you may need to replace that since you have removed and installed the head a few times. also, make sure you tighten the head down in a cross pattern simular to how you do on a car tire.

no rtv on the head!
