I wasn't in the mood to build a kit so I'm starting with a stock RTR Wraith Poison Spyder. You have seen some AWESOME Wraith builds from HPIKiller and HPIGuy...This will not be like those, this will be a budget basher. After looking it over and driving it for a few minutes there will be some upgrades coming soon. The plastic on this rig seems softer than the plastic used on SCX models but time will tell. If your starting with a rtr the first things you will want to do is install a metal servo horn and stronger steering links, the stock servo uses a 25t horn.

Testing with 3s :D

Just to let you know, I don't believe the stick electronics are 3s rated. But it sure looks cool!

Yea the stock esc is rated for 2s but it was a short run just to see what it was like. I'm pretty sure if I run a bec on it 3s won't be a problem.

I hate you now too Pete. Congrats on the new rig though. I'm just gonna have to suck it up and get one too.

I used to have to replace parts on avionics boxes that had the magic smoke let out of them. It's not any fun on the extremely small surface mount components that they use on the ESCs.

Nice Pete, glad you like it. Lots of guys running the AE-2 on 3s power using an external BEC long term with no issues. Not saying it's rated for it or anything, but it has been done, a lot. If you plan on keeping the stock motor, you should re-gear it much lower than stock. A 5:1 ratio seems to be the happy spot to keep motor temps down and make them last a lot longer.

Found the name of the products we used:

Humiseal 1B31
Humiseal 1B73

These are tough to get according to my old boss. He did recommend this as it is easier to get a hold of from Newmark:

TechSpray 2108-12S

Good info Hamz thanks!

Got some goodies today...it will be on 3s tomorrow!

The hood is very nice but the other panels are home made, they need a little work but not bad.

I found it for sale on RCC along with the body panels for less than half of what the hood sells for new. The hood is a fine piece of work too! My son and I have been having a blast with it, should be a little more interesting on the 3s packs.

BEC installed and set at 6v, the stock servo is not half bad with a little extra juice. I was happy to learn that with the LVD set to auto it does recognize the 3s pack.

I beat on it a little today, just enough speed to get off the ground.

Looks good so far, but needs a little more dirt...

I ran it in a little mud today, it has enough wheel speed to sling mud onto my head. Note to self....Don't stand in front of trucks in mud!
