I would like to know what Gearing do you people who have rs4's use? I have been testing some gear ratios out and haven’t come to a satisfaction at all, so I am currently using the stock gearing setup for the rs4 3 evo which is
Pinion: 18:22tooth
Spur gear: 52:43 tooth

I'm curruntly using the 18ss Engine.

I basically want fast take off's with decent speed. Something that will be fast at take off but at the same time won’t sacrifice the top speed much; application would be for track racing with a lot of corners, yet decent amount of straight ways.

Any help would be appreciated.

For my rs4 2, i'm running 37/20 spur/pinion gears. It's calculated to top out at around 75mph at 30k rpm. But i'm sure this doesn't mean much since i've got a 24.7 engine.

I have yet to drive my RS4 3 18SS, but you may want to try taller than stock gearing with that engine. HPI put in the red gears for the pinion, and 43/47 for spurs. Thats what HPI likes for the 18SS engine I guess.

Anyone else have any input or help on gearing?
I came up with this Gear ratio.

Spur: 1st gear 45
Spur: 2nd gear 41

Pinion 1st gear 17
Pinion 2nd gear 21

Or

Spur: 1st gear 47
Spur: 2nd gear 43

Pinion 1st gear 18
Pinion 2nd gear 23

I'm leaning more on the first gear ratio.

thanks

Assuming the motor reaches 30k rpm:

First gearing choice:
First gear = 28.8mph
Second gear = 39.1mph

Second Gearing choice:
First gear = 29.2mph
Second gear = 40.8mph

IMO, if those are your choices, you're not gonna notice much difference if any at all, so either one would be fine.

It won't reach 40k, don't go by peak rpm, it's crap. And all your power by then would be long since peaked. At best, calculate it at maybe 35k max rpm
