I have had this kit for over a year now and havent got it to run correctly yet! i broke the engine in correctly and tuned it to the proper specs, retuned it when i got the new pipe...it absolutly screams until it and when it shifts to 2nd it bogs down and dies. also, how do i know if my diffs are set up right? when i turn one wheel what are the others supposed to do? the car doesn't seem to roll very freely...unfortunatly it is in pieces at the moment so i can't be more specific. thanks

The front diffs in the SS have springs in them, so they are sort oflimited slip diffs. Basically what this does is tighten up your diff. So if you turn one of your front wheels when the car is of the ground probably all of them will spin. If you hold the back two and spin a front one the other side wheel will sping the opposite way, same with the back except it doesn't have that spring in there so it will be much smoother and free flowing.

My RS4 3 SS never rolled very smooth either, doin't really know why though. I have never had the problem you are describing when it shifts. Has it it ever done that when in first gear? If it only does it in second gear it makes me think something is wrong with your 2 speed...

no never in 1st, i am going to play with the shift pin when i get home from school today....and after i put it back together. one other thing, i took apart the tranny and there is a spring in there. when i took it out it was black, but i believe that i need the silver one in it. part # 86050. it could have been just covered in greese...is this a major problem or something i could live with? 86050 is a top of p 9 in manual and HERE

The 12R engine in the SS kit uses the black clutch holder spring.

Put both front wheels on the ground and leave the rear wheels in the air. Spin one rear wheel and the other rear wheel should spin in the opposite direction.

Put both rear wheels on the ground and leave the front wheels in the air. Spin one front wheel and the other front wheel should spin in the opposite direction.

Put the left side wheels on the ground with the right side wheels in the air. Spin the front wheel and the rear wheel should spin in the same direction. Spin the rear wheel and the front wheel should spin in the same direction.

Put the right side wheels on the ground with the left side wheels in the air. Spin the front wheel and the rear wheel should spin in the same direction. Spin the rear wheel and the front wheel should spin in the same direction.

You should not feel any grinding or any unusual resistance when performing the spin tests. The wheels should spin smoothly.

Put the car on the ground and push it forward. You should be able to touch the clutch bell and stop it from spinning.

Put the car on the ground and push it backwards. You should NOT be able to stop the clutch bell from spinning (careful, do not catch a finger).

As far as the stalling goes, sounds like a tuning issue or maybe a bad glow plug. Check for air leaks.

omfg, i have asked that question on a few forums and that is the most comprehensive answer that i have ever recieved! thanks so much..now i just have to put the thing back together to test it out:)...1 hour later..ok back together and working properly as per your instructions. thanks very much! now on to the wheel alighnment question. i busted a head off of a turnbuckle and have to use the non-turn-buckles(?) in the rear...when i set this up it has alot of camber..toe in...whatever...heres a pict.

That is a lot of camber. Do the solid links come in different lengths? Otherwise, hit the LHS and get the right ones. I have some toe-in on the rear but nowhere near the amount the solid links put on yours.

That is a good point. Maybe the high amount of camber added when you put on the solid links also is proportionate to the toe-in settings of the rear carriers. Surelooks that way at least.

after careful inspection, on of my a-arms is bent! i am now looking for an upgrade to this part but am having difficulty finding a website with parts. any help? thanks. btw no lhs here in the boon docks:(
