Hi all, flipped my rig end over end 6 times tonight and busted the shock tower off the rear. So my questions is it worth while to upgrade to RPM shock tower or is there better? I am trying to keep it light and durable, oh its a 4908 tmaxx with aluminum bulks and rpm tru track

Thanks in advance Shawn

i have heard that rpm parts out does any other ones. i had the a-arms on my tmaxx before but i didnt like the shorter wheelbase for it.

I just picked up the RPM shock tower after some nasty flips last weekend. I'll try to break it this weekend and let you know how it goes, but I haven't been able to break any RPM stuff yet...

Personally I don't like the RPM towers, they are too soft and flex too much. I prefer to go with aluminum towers but with stock plastic body posts as my planned weak link.

When you flex do mean make it drive crappy because shocks are not stable ? I have read a couple post saying they are not great that is way I asked in this post to get the facts from the guys using them. So if you could give some more details why you feel this way I would love to hear. Thanks Shawn

They will flex in a crash, but not while driving. There's 2 shocks on each side, so if they are flexing it's only a tiny bit up and down. The only problem you might run into is they could flex enough to touch the exhaust manifold in a severe crash. Personally, I think they're the way to go.

Good to hear couldnt wait, so went to LHS and grabed a set now installed and survived and couple jumps allready. Thanks

rpm is great and have a life time warrenty! last set you will ever have to pay for. I have had my rpm a arms on for a some time now and they have not broke yet, and i would always break the stock a arms

If you run an 8 shock setup and just intend on bashing, the RPMs are pretty indestructible. If you run a 4 shock setup, they flex quite a bit towards the side without the shock when you compress the shocks.

well I run 8 shocks and bash mostly but plan on racing in club races this summer to see if racing is for me if I like I will get a 1/8 buggy for next year.

I still say the towers are too soft. I agree with the rest of Olds suggestion with the exception of the towers. I would go with aluminum towers.

What do you guys think of the RPM a arms?

RPM towers/arms/axle carriers with alloy bulks makes for a pretty solid setup.

That they are pretty good. For a t-maxx, you may want to put nuts on the backside of the lower shock mount bolts as the RPM plastic is pretty soft and prone to having the bottom shock screws pull out/strip.

This was my old maxx with RPM arms:

I agree with OLDS on the arms, I used them on all my maxxes, and did the same thing as OLDS with the lock nut on the back side. If you don't it's only a matter of time until the shock screws pull out.
